I think their use of the chello not automaticaly qualifies or disqualifies them as 'classical' or puts them in the 'Gothic Rock' scene. Take Rondo Venetiano who use modern, electric, instruments and keyboard and write contemporary compositions as well as play Vivaldi etc.
So why don't you find out what others think and post them?
