Various companies have various colours, and various shades of each colour too.

Ranger green, smoke green, sewer green, OD, etc

MJK, Khaki, Tan, Wheat, Coyote tan, Coyote brown, etc

It depends on the make really. One company's coyote could be anothers desert tan. Some even vary from one production run to the next.

+1 on what Angel said. MJK is the closet to what you think "TAN" looks like.

-Angel- got it right. Just wanna add one thing. Coyote Brown is usually associated with the Marine Corps' Coyote Brown. You won't find the terminology as frequently used in the commercial field.

A similar discussion can be found in the USMC thread. From time to time a debate would start all over again about what's the real Coyote Brown as used by the USMC.

you mean what type of dye the manufacturer is useing to produce gear for the marine corps at such'n'such a time.....coyote brown isnt just a marine thing. lots of companies use the term coyote brown the corps doesnt own the right to the term since they havent invaded the colour wheel yet.

    Yet .

CB is usually associated with Marines.
    Ranger green, obviously, Rangers.

Even though they are associated with specific branches, they aren't restricted as such... although proper, Eagle CB & RG on the civilian market are like gold dust.

If you really want the CB, try Eagle's one although not easy to get....

One more question... How abt the CIRAS vest worn by Navy EOD team and the SEALs, are they also in CB??

Tan from SO Tech and SDS is more like desert color.
Khaki from Blackhawk, HSG, Paraclete and Eagle is between Tan and CB. That is what you said a light OD.
CB from Eagle is CB. Standard issue color tone to USMC gears.

Default Tan color from SO Tech

    Wish it can help you.
