For Modelers: T-55 made up to look like a Merkava in Lebanon...

    Found it in Yahoo! News.
Pretty good make-up job, I fancy. Modelers, take heart!

LOL. On the other side that mock-up is better then some soviet tank mock-ups in hollywood movies.

The trurret is made really well, but they couldn't really modify the chassis and size of tank.

x2. Just about the only movies featuring decent "soviet" armored vehicles were "Red Dawn" (made-up M44s), "Rambo 3" and "The Beast" (Ti-67 Tiran)...

Maybe changing the wheels could help a lot. But it is still one of the best tank moc-ups i've ever seen.

They have some T-55s they got from the SLA, but they don't use them in combat as tanks will only provide a nice big target for the IDF, with little use in their type of methods.

my company commnder's crew took out a T-55 used by Hezballah, during the withdrawal in 2000.

And what exactly will they do with some old T-55s? maybe they will be of some use if they'll decide to try and take over Lebanon by force or something, but a handful will be of no value against the IDF.

it could be used as an ambush weapon, such as it dug into the ground used on infantry.(obviously they couldn't turn it on,b/c the heat signiture) As a tank on the battle field its serves no value.
