I hate the Finnish winter.
Surely thats some sort of heresy for a Finn...hates winter!![]()
Probably. But I hate it anyways.
That was the first winter of my life I've ever spent in Finland.
That's an explanation![]()
A great group both friends and family to have, props to that bro![]()
Where are you from? I did my service back in 99/00, the only time I have ever lived outside Australia. Yeah winters aren't as cold here!
What sort of unit were you in? Just curious because I see optical sights on the RK95, fancy goggles and more elaborate body armour - we never had that in our Jääkari/FRDF unit.
Nice photos, I wish digital cameras were around when I served...
Kaartinjääkärirykmentti is more of an urban fighter from what I gather, meaning a more specialized unit than the rest of the infantry units, therefor they are granted some "special" equipment. Finland definetly needs a bigger defense budget. To hell with social healthcare and welfare!![]()
cool photos man, thanks!![]()
Nice pics. Is the RK-95 standard issue for the whole Finnish army now?
Kaartin Jääkärirykmentti (Guard Jaeger Regiment is the english name IIRC) is also a bit like the Foreign Legion of the FDF, lots of naturalized immigrants, guys with dual citizenships etc. do their military service there. Must be interesting.
Nope, not enough of them to go around. Different versions of the RK-62 are still more common AFAIK.
Got any more pics Ahopelto? These are great.
Don't the fin's have a new camaflage uniform coming into service at the moment? I think it was a digital or flecktar pattern.
Most excellent!
I just love how one man can carry all the weapon types of the inf squad!
