    In the US Army they wear the patch of the unit they served in Combat with. So on his left shoulder he has a Ranger Scroll because according to his Tan beret he is serving in one of the Ranger battalions.

    Sorry I messed that up in my first post
    right shoulder is your combat patch for example his is the 1st Cav. and his left shoulder is the unit he is currently serving in, which is one of the Ranger battalions.

    One of Ranger battalions? So far I know Senegal has only one commando battalion stationed in Thies or am I wrong?
