any particular models?
If I had to buy one flashlight, it would be a Surefire. Don't be baggin' on them, Kayaker.![]()
I've got a single AA light with 189 (measured OTF) lumens :P
It's my EDC now
just got myself a surefire e2dl defender. 200lumensi cant wait to use it
I picked up a cheap (27 bucks USD) Rayovac Sportsmen 3watt 80 lumens flashlight for work/play. It has the orange peel reflector, so it puts out a pretty good beam. This is honestly the best flashlight I can think of for using at my work place. It is cheap, which means it is replaceable! And it is waterproof/shockproof. I couldn't be happier with it, and if you are looking for a cheap, all around good flashlight, I seriously recommend this bad boy.
Anybody uses rechargeable batteries on CR123A flashlights? I´d like to know if any issues arise, or particular brands or models for those batteries.
Stay away from any cheap crap. They explode too frequently. For brands, all of my rechargeables are AW you can find on lighthound website. Also good charger is important for safety. Pila brand and Ultrafire brand lithium battery charges are best.
Most important part is knowing what flashlight brand and model you intend to use because not all can support rechargeables and will kill your light because rechargeables always have higher voltage than standard CR123. SureFire for example designs their circuitry in a way not to accept any rechargeable options; I use AW single 17670 for 2 cell CR123s lights and 2 AW 17500 for 3 cell CR123 lights. Single 18650 for 2 cell CR123 lights and 2 18500 for 3 cell CR123 lights. 18xxx rechargeables store more juice=longer runtime than 17xxx cells, but they don't fit the diameter of many flashlights.
I´ve been using a Intova diving flashlight of 120 lumens. Quite good, but surefire batteries were expensive during a deployment. I´m going to try a more powerful Olight M30 Triton... and take maybe 12 or 16 rech. batts for those LRRPs...
I'm no longer drawn into SureFire lights because of lack of rechargeables. Here is a review of Olight M30. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...d.php?t=231491 I'm not familiar with long term quality of this brand, but on specs it sounds like a decent light. If I were you, I'd go with 18650 option (it takes 2 of those). Best cell on the market and will give you longest runtime.
Surefire G2 Led worth the price? Its quite more expensive than others. Is there better idea for 40~60 dollars?
