    Question.

Led Lenser, whats the feeling on their quality. I can get a P7 at the right price (about 40% less than the shops are selling them here).

I have a couple. not sure I'd trust them for a combat light, but I used one or two for work (engineering tech in a Navy nuke plant) for a while, they served the purpose.

I have found that I need a brighter LED light (in lumens output) than an incandescent for my purpose (looking from a lit space into a dark space). LED's have MUCH better battery life and reliability, tho.

I know you are probably all going to laugh but I've actually got one of those in the rear pouch of my webbing, along with windshirt, boil-in-bag meal, hexy burner etc. Just in case I get lost/separated on a fcuking horrible rainy hillside somewhere. Code 4 pilots light (like an AA maglite but with red-to-white easily) in my smock pocket and a Tactikka XP in my daysack next to the TAMs for writing orders and thats me.

Also got one of those little LED lights, 'Cybalite', for clipping onto a jacket zipper, but never really use it. I've had several civvy LED lights on my keys and they always seem to unscrew, leaving me losing half of the fvcking thing on the street when staggering back from pub. Typical.

Ok, when you're in the mountains candles are critical for igloos. But what I need is an inexpensive helmet light that I can put on the side of my head with a strap, surefire makes helmet lights but they's expensive. Energizer introduced one but it's not on the market for purchase yet, and I haven't found anything other than surefire's stuff.

I use this one in Woodland camoflage. I also have a Mini Maglite with a headband, but the Petzl is much more practical.

I bought the Petzl Tactikka yesterday at what would be the PX on an American base, we had night land nav last night so I was hoping to wait a couple more weeks before I had to drop 30 Euros for a flashlight, but oh well.

Yah I love the Surefire line (although some of it is overpriced) I carry a G2 as my light while deployed. Our issued weapon light is junk so I'm gonna replace it with a Surefire some day.

Thats the one I got, the XP, but in brown.

Put a couple of layers of white tape over the slide-on-slide-off lens so's I can make it into more of a glow when the lighthouse-like main beam is a bit OTT!

It is a fvcking uber headlamp, pricey and takes AAAs instead of AAs but fvcking uber...

I've put it on my lid for when doing FIBUA but I'm not sure I'd want to keep it on there all the time as it'd probably get bashed around something crazy. I've seen a few guys keeping Petzl E-Lites on their lids all the time tho, I guess they are smaller and cheaper...
