8 pointer taken earlier this year on a hunt with a good mate of mine.

We both got good hits on him at 218m across a small deep valley.....

We tracked him over the next feature and neck shot him......

He still got the last laugh tumbling down a couple hundred metres of very steep bush he was hiding in....

On inspection we had good shot placement, he was an incredible animal that didn't know the word quit

12 hours hard out in very steep country back to the wagon

Best Venison ever........

I'm keen on a thar hunt...we're planning one where we may not have to climb so high for the buggers

Next year if we're all still in NZ we're going to hire a helo to drop us into fjordland.

And we're definitely returning to that spot again next year...lots of animal sign......and no footprints but ours

Lol... anyways my friend's gonna lend me one of his rifles so we wont be traveling with my m1 since i havent had it registered.... hahaha... going to use one of their m14s i'll just bring a scope and my mounts for it.... going for head shots since i would loose some meat....

That would work, don't use an AR or any round 5.56/223 you need a big round, 30-06 is perfect, and the M1 can carry up to 8 rounds in a clip

Most state hunting regulations specify 5 rounds or less for rifles and in most cases 3 for shotguns. If you go into the woods with a weapon that can hold more than that the Game Wardens will light your ass up. Hefty fines. Might want to check on that.
