Haha
You are right! I didn't even think about it, but shooting pretty much any kind of rifle like that has become instinctive.
This deer didn't need much in the way of marksmanship. I was prepared for a 400 yard shot, and I got him at about 30! A .270 Weatherby Magnum really gets the job done. He was so close my bullet really didn't even expand, but it wasn't necessary. 150 grains at 3200 fps put him down in an instant. I don't think he even knew what hit him, which was my goal. I was pretty careful - I had several opportunities to shoot at things, but a lot of times I didn't want to take the chance on wounding an animal and losing it. I think that is heartbreaking.
It's a Bulova.
That look great, hehe lots of veggies too I see.
How do you like the 270? How much did you pay for her?
The .270 is a family heirloom my father was given by my grandfather's cousin. It's worth quite a bit, but we didn't pay for it.
It's a great rifle, though the stock is a little short for me - the original owner was a little fellow. We'll probably replace that soon. It's very accurate and flat shooting, and very powerful. I like it a lot.
keep the old stock buy more internals and build 2 rifles
What kind of sauce did you make for the venison, James?
nice deer. can we get a sticky in the off topic and humor thread for hunting?
