Hares is the right word. Only one word for hares and rabbits in German. Sorry!

I thought they were a good idea too, until I spent this morning falling off it. I'm going to beat the bloody thing, but it might take a few sessions.

There were a couple of old blokes with a trailer full of mini sail boats waiting for a school group to show up, they spent 40 minutes giggling at me while I floundered about, then one popped down and offered a bit of advice. Old bastard could have come down 30 minutes earlier.

    Default 22 Mag...

So, I just bought a new, still-in-box Winchester 9422 (lever-action .22) from a buddy, and was in such a hurry to do so that I didn't notice until after that it's actually a 9422M, that shoots only Magnum rounds. Plinking just got more expensive... But here's my question: part of the reason I wanted a .22 was for grouse hunting -- is the Mag round too big for grouse?
    Thanks

That rifle in .22mag is a good rifle, we used to have one. You could always use solids, less damage to the birds that way.

Yeah, kinda what I figured. I was only able to get hollow points for tomorrow though...guess it'll have to be head shot then.

Gents, let's not buggerise around wasting port drinking time. To hunt fish, one takes two sticks of Magnum Powergel and binds them together. One then pokes a stick into the end of one powergel and inserts a number 8 safety detonator with safety fuse crimped in place. One then lights the loose end of safety fuse and chucks the lot into nearest water pool. Job done.

Unless you just added to the mass of your boiling campfire billy*, you will have fish rising to the surface of your creek/river.

    *if so....follow my boots...

So I am shooting a Remington Model 7400, 30-06. It has some bolt issues. I sighted in, calmed my self down, gently squeezed the trigger and...nothing. No plink, no nothing. As I thought: "Oh ****, I'll never hear the end of this, the only buck seen all weekend and I **** it up." I pulled the bolt back to eject the round. It didn't eject, and it was about to try to double feed. I looked up and of course the idiot was looking at me now. While holding bolt back I released the magazine, let the 2 rounds drop out of the well, slapped the mag back it. I shoved that bolt forward, aimed, andf fired.

8 point buck from last Sunday, 23 November, through the neck.

And here is a photo of the shot, my rangefinder had set at 70 yards.

Well done! My wife got a call last night - the father of one of her friends shot a deer in Mississippi and asked if we wanted it. Now I have a nice little selection of venison in my freezer.

My uncle is going Boar hunting and is bringing along a Remington .270 rifle to which he wants me to add optics to it for him.

Can anyone recommend a good hunting optic I guess that would be good with boars? I've never hunted before nor do I know the kind of ranges one would be shooting at. I was thinking of just mounting a simple red dot but don't how good of an idea that is.....

Anyone with experience would be greatly appreciated.
