I also have an oil leak coming out in between the head and the block, is this something to worry about? it's not bad but I'm worried the head gasket could be starting to go bad..what are you recommendations? sorry for all the questions, I don't have much cash and I need to make this car count.
I assume this is a Honda right? To get at the seals you will have to remove the timming cover. The timing belt and pulleys will have to be removed to replace the seals. If you intend to do this PM me with the car specs and I will give you some pointers. It will most likely be the cam seal but the crank could also be bad. The valve cover gaskets leak on those at the corners so that could run down there and could run oil along the edge of the head and block mating surfaces. Your best bet would be to remove the cover and have a look at where the oil is. Once you do that I would still go ahead and change all the seals on the front and the valve cover gasket. If the head is seeping oil try a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer, it will help stop that. I would not worry about the headgasket until coolant leaks, down cylinder or lots of oil comming from the center exahust side of the head.

If you do not find a bad hose or line the canister or the Purge Solenoid is the cause. You will have to have a hand vacuum pump or your mouth to test those. When you test the purge valve test with both 12vdc applied and no power. It should be sealed with no power and open with 12vdc applied. Use a couple of jumpers to the battery unless you have a scan tool to operate the bi-directional controls like the EVAP Solenoids. Then take the pump or your mouth and a section of line and test. There were no TSB's for your issue. Let me know what you find.

So I lifted the hood on my Mustang this weekend with my manual in one hand and a beer in the other and I kinda just stared at the engine waiting for it to make sense; kinda how I used to do in math class in middle school.

I'm lost and am going to post pictures since I'm a total jackass
What are you doing? Besides drinking and looking at the engine.

I'm not mechanically inclined I guess

I have no problems with firearms or electronics but put an old engine in front of me and my eyes just glaze over

my Baby overheats and I can't drive it reliably since I got the new rebuilt engine (3,200 miles).

as an example; I can drive from my house and get on the freeway and drive for 5 miles not hitting any traffic and when I get off the freeway my radiator will be over flowing and dumping coolant everywhere.

Or if I hit the road at an given time in this city I will hit traffic and I can literally see my temp gauge rise as I sit there.

She became too stressful for me to drive so she has collected dust for almost two years

Did you try taking loose a heater hose at the highest point and filling coolant and bleeding air out the heater hose.?

    Cooling system.

Plugged radiator, Take cap off look at core, Should be nice holes no blockage. You may need to have your radiator roded, or a rebuilt one.

Bad thermostat, Sticks closed. replace thermostat. (cheapest solution) one thing you can do, is just take it out and see if it over heats.

When you check your cooling system, let it get to temperature and with cap off see how it is circulating, Remember Coolant is HOT.

Blown head gasket will cause problem too, look at oil, a creamy mess is a indicator. IF oil is clean and looks like oil, NP......... or you can also have it block check, usually not to expensive. Gases from radiator goes through a liquid, if exhaust gases are present, liquid changes color.

On a side note Laworkerbee, my mom's 94 Thunderbird did the same exact thing. No matter how many times I would bleed the air more would appear. That told me a combustion leak into the coolant system was going on. I used a chemical called test blue to check for combustion gases in the coolant. Sure enough the LS headgasket was bad. It would not leak coolant into the cylinder but the pressure in the cylinder forced combustion gases into the coolant.

Happens all the time on race engines and you can check it with a coolant system pressure tester. Start it up and watch the pressure as you rev the engine. If it rises fast you got a leak, but small leaks like on my moms car can only be found with block tester fluid or test blue. Although I can tell by the smell of the coolant too, a hint of volatile hydrocarbons vapor.

Hollis beat me to the block check.

I have done that and everything is Kosher, I have also check the pressure cap to make sure it is the correct one and am told it is.

Ok you know I can say this in the last year my eyes would water up while driving her and sitting in traffic it felt like exhaust was coming into the car you know fumes or something....sorry I cant be more specific.

I knew I should have taken auto shop instead of home economics but all the damned girls where in there, I can cook though

It is at the engine end of the top large hose, under the metal piece attached with bolts to the top of the engine(intake). I thought you changed that by now?
