It's definitely because of your new soundsystem. I've the same problem with mine. Had to take the fuse for the amp out because in the winter my system kills the battery. Btw, you should maybe think about installing a cap to cover extrem "bass peaks". Maybe you also have a problem with the "earth" which forces the battery to empty.

    KWESCHUN:

ITB/Independant Throttle Bodies: No pass smog? (California)

    Too broad of a question?

    Engine is a Toyota 4AGE

Why? Maybe the engine management is a bit old and something newer is needed. What if you transplant the efi wiring and ecu with the head & itb's?

What the hell? I am asking myself a question. What is Kweschun?

Not sure but here there are ways. You can purchase a waiver for a custom, it must pass inspection. The mods must be manufacture approved for 1987 and newer vehicles. Older ones have less restrictions and 1970 and older I think are exempt from emission checks. Most store bought items have no restriction. Mixing engines, fuel systems and the like is what they want to restrict. In this area though 1996 and up get an OBDII monitor check, SES lamp function check and gas cap check. 1996 and older get a four gas test and converter inspection with a mirror. lol You can tweak a carb to pass and have a shell for a converter. What all do they inspect in Cali? It is a a broad question.

I imagine someone has or is going to have an ITB kit offering that is California approved. The question lingering is what cars will California let you modify. What throttle bodies are you installing?

    Thanks.
Has someone changed the fluid? You MUST use Mercon V. No Dex Merc, Mercon V only.Vehicle speed, throttle pedal position, engine vacuum, coolant temp, engine speed are what this system uses I think. . Maybe an input (turbine) speed sensor and an output shaft(speed) sensor on the trans. PM inbound..

Wagon: Guys usually get a standalone fuel management setup for ITB's on these motors. I don't recall names or specs as I don't yet have the car, and am wondering if I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Shocker: The car is a 1985 Toyota Corolla (AE86 Chassis).

Folks build up their motor (4AGE) as N/A motors usually, so cams and ITB's are big on the list.

We don't have inspections in California. For smog here, they put a sniffer or whatever in your exhaust pipe, and they make sure your timing is retarded enough to "pass" (run crummy but apparently "clean"). Dunno about newer cars as I've only had Pre-1990 cars myself. Not sure how it all goes, but this is LA, so you can get anything to pass if you have a $100 bill. Just wanna make sure I don't get a fatass ticket from California Highway Patrol (hooray for them) for "modified, uh, those pipe thingies on the side of the engine thingy at the front", or something.

Tell them they increase your mileage and reduce emissions. Just get a sticker that says "ECO" put it in plain sight. Solved.

Sounds like a great plan. I'll have to tear the "ULEV Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle" sticker off my buddy's Civic.

ORGANIC AND GREEN. Made with space dust.

There should be plenty of guys running megasquirts on 4age with itb's. I've had one on the Falcon for over 3 years now and it's been great.
    (It's cheap, too.)

    Hey Wagon!

Sorry I havent been able to get back with you on this sooner but here is my progress so far. Got the starboard side done, my sisters boyfriend hooked me up with some boxes and installed the relays I bought on a board and wired them up with plug ins, I'm going to use a silicone adhesive caulk to affix them up inside the rear ammo lockers and provide some vibration dampening for them. Also started to repaint the passenger side with gloss white. Used POR15 on the floorboards and panels to protect them from rust then dusted them with rustoleum gloss white, I still have to lay a final coat over it.
Unfortunatley moving furniture has been a priority this past week off and my shop is so crammed with furniture to the point it is almost impossible to do any real work without risk of dirtying up something. There's a pool table, a futon, and other crap on top of it at the moment too so its not going anywhere. I need to get it done before the BMP-1 gets here though.

    Here are some pics.

Wagon did you figure out the Ford? The link I sent you is not as good as this one.http://www.fordinstallersupport.com/
However you must get access through a Ford dealer. They supply you with a free account if you do business with them. Any Ford dealer.

Let me know what the situation is. I have some ideas on what it could be.

Thanks for the update ezfeed, looking forward to the end result.

Thanks Shocker1, I've been toying with it. Just uploaded this new video of the headlight work. Finally got some new bulbs and repaired the turn signals but stupid me....I got the high beam leads crossed so I need to go back in it and redo them.
