Can someone help me with a tyre size question?

If I have 235/75R15 tyres on my vehicle that means the tyre is 235mm wide, the side wall is 75% of that, so 176mm, and the rim is 15" right?

Is there any way to convert/compare this to a tyre size such as 31x10.5R15?

    Thanks, that's awesome.

Am I right in saying then that a 31x10.5R15 tyre has a diameter of 31 inches, a width of 10.5 inches and fits a 15 inch rim?

A few times is ok but your tire will be increasingly hard to balance and will develop lumpy syndrome. Yo best fix that axle now before you are on the side of the road.

the ones you buy at the Zone are rebuilt. Rebuilt is fine a brand new one will set you back a chunk of change and will only be available from the dealer. Then they will want to sell yo a rebuilt one too. One from the Zone is around $60 plus core charge if you don't bring in the old one.

that thing the other night didnt help at all. i still need a front end alignment, to get those 2 rear locking lugs off , need a new master cylinder, and to get the tire plugged. i'll be surprised if i am still using the car as my primary means next year, but then again i may not be driving civilian cars again next year

i forgot to mention that the first try at changing the cv shaft was unsuccessful, the guy that did it forgot to do something with the seal where it meets the transmission, after the cv shaft popped out the next day on my way home from work, he realized his mistake and pushed the seal back in. now what is weird is he didnt want to tell me that he had messed up on the seal, i overheard him mentioning it to one of the guys there. i heard i am supposed to change that seal when i change the cv shaft, what are the odds the seal is the problem?

Hey do you mean the shaft popped out going down the road/ If so the differential splines may have been damaged and slipping. Making the terrible noise you hear. you need to pull that axle and inspect the diff inside the transaxle for damage. BTW you are not bugging. Glad to help ya pal.

yeah i was making a turn and all of a sudden i lost power and coasted to a school parking lot. my friend who fixed the car came and told me that the cv shaft had popped out...and then spent the next hour puttingit back together taking it down the road and doing donuts in it till i got pissed that he was tearing my **** up.

Has anyone here done a rack and pinion job? And if so, how much of a pain in the but is it to do?

on most fwd vehicles it is not too painfull with the proper tools, the hardest thing is draining the power steering fluid and disconecting the tie rod ends from the knuckles .the rack itself is attached to the body by two large bolts in most cases. one thing to remember is to properly bleed power steering after reasembly and have vehicle realigned.

totally new problem happened this morning, i was driving to work at 5am and all of a sudden my dash lights went out...one quick slap on the dash and boom they came back on. this usually happens when i activate my left turn signal but hadn't happened for a while till today when they went out 3 or 4 times on the way to work. im guessing maybe a short or a loose wire...all these problems are really beginning to piss me off. i may in the market for a new hatch here soon
