Haynes Manuals are the Mutts nutts also. Recently stripped a Pug 206 1.9 diesel to get the head overhauled, and reassembled with that book. For a tenner it saved me two grand to what the garage qouted me.
As for tools. Be a man! Go buy some and put them in the shed/garage for such an occasion!
Tengtools - Spanner/socket/pliers set will solve most problems. Lifetime gaurentee. Think the set is about 300 euro.
You don't need a gargae/shed to have tools. It helps if you have lots of them though. A tool box!
This little number is all I needed to strip down an entire 206 engine, bar a set of allen keys and a set of screwdrivers. Cant go wrong with this. THe sockets are strong but thin, able to get into tight spaces, the rachet aint too big either but is tough. The spanners are good and solid too. One of the best pieces of kit I own.

I have invested nearly 100 grand in tools. Hell my toolbox cost $8000. The new Craftsman professional series is good but I am a Snap On, Mac, Matco tool collector. If you do not work with them on a daily basis and make money with them buying Snap On tools is a waste of money. They do increase in value like rare coins though. I have a 1960's Snap on torque wrench that is worth $1000.
Yeah, I know. I seriously need some tools here. I bought a couple of shelves last may to put up on the wall but they're still lying under the sofa getting dusty. I don't even have a screwdriver here. I'll look in to it!
A man without tools is like a car with no gas. Useless
That would be Mac tools not Matco I think. Mac was bought by Stanley who also makes tools for sears. I have some old Mac from the days they were independent. The Matco Ratchet wrenches are the best for those but Craftsman has come out with a professional series that is almost as good. Craftsman is not cheap anymore either. Most of my stuff is Snap On, they do make the best tools.
You are right though Craftsman, Mac Matco and Allens are all about the same now. Snap On is the Premium.
Oh and I hate the Snap On man, I do not owe them a damn thing now and I avoid the truck at all costs.
I stand corrected. It is Mac tools. Unfortunately I was never allowed to go to the Snap on plant. I was hoping to. I do not know if the ones I were holding were professional or what. The plant I was at did have an abnormal amount of rejects. IIRC it was about 10,000 a week.
You may be right too, Matco may be made under contract now also. I don't know but Mac is basically high end Stanley tools now. Nobody beats Snap On sockets, air ratchets and impacts. I have chrome sockets i have used with my impact for years. Stick any of the others on there and they will break. Of course no one even comes close to the quality of a Snap On tool box. Mine has an alarm and lojack tracking with a remote transmitter for the power locks.
I changed the powersteering-fluid.
When i testdrove the car the steering felt normal and the sound was gone.I hope it stays that way.
Thanks for the help shocker1!
That is great! Glad I could help and maybe save you some cash.
Snap-on... best tools ever made. Just my two cents.
