    Here my problem:

I hit a dip rather hard the other day, and most of my 04 Civic's plastic undercover (in the front below the bonnet) fell off. It was dragging for 5 miles while I made it back home. I just took some scissors and cut it off.

Is it critical that I have it?

Is the Taurus a 3.8l? If so I found one from LKQ and they have good parts. Here is the page and the phone number, they will ship it. Well you will have to look it up or decipher the quote.

are you talking of the bumper cover or the lip at the botom of the bumper cover..kind of like a plastic skid plate? neither one of those is absolutely necessary but good for keeping the dirt and crap out of the engine bay

also...how hard did you hit that mess..jeeze

Yes, it directs airflow correctly through the AC condenser and radiator. It can cause your engine to run hotter. Drag will also increase, airflow inside the engine compartment may not circulate and heat could build up outside the engine. Things prematurely fail when this happens like, vacuum hoses, radiator hoses, ignition wires, seals the list goes on. But in a pinch it will be ok but for the long term replace it.

Yeah I think it's the latter. I hit a dip going 25 (straight on). Don't ask. Then I went on the freeway and heard scraping noises each time it went downhill. When I got off the whole thing fell off and was barely held by two screws on one side. You could hear me coming for a 10 miles away LOL.

OT: Also got in a bump at Cabela's parking lot today. Was backing out and scraped this guy's bumper. He barely has a mark but my rear bumper was somehow really ****ed up. All bent up on driver's side. Good thing the guy wasn't a whiny bitch and was cool about the situation, and insurance transaction went surprisingly smooth.

Hey people, my father told me about a problem with his car. He has on more than on occasion been temporaily stranded while shopping, doing errands. He has taken it to a mechanic and the mech has told him he will drive it around and check it out and crank it often. Has had it for a day now and said it starts every time. My father has called another guy thats suppose to be a specialist in electronics and that guy told him it will be $69 per hour to check his car out. I am concerned as he is old and the car sometimes does not start. He sent me an email about the problems which is kinda strange to me. Any input would be appreciated. The email he sent is as follows:

1998 oldsmobile 88, low mileage, runs good. Problem comes about occasionally when attempting to crank car. Headlights, etc. come on when cranking car and problem will come about occasionally when the ignition key is turned to crank and nothing occurs, no sound, no clicking, although interior and headlights will come on. This situation may occur daily, or once a week, or one time over period of two to three weeks. When this occurs I am stopped cold, so get out of car, lift hood and shake all lines to and from the battery and after trying to crank for several occasions it will then crank. Doubt the shaking and moving of cables, which are tight on battery have anything to do with the car eventually cranking. Battery checked and in good condition, all poles clean and clear and all cables secure. The car starter has not yet been replaced as a possible problem, although there is no sound to indicate a starter problem and other than the occasional time the car will not crank every thing works very well.

    Any input will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Crank Sensor, Throttle Position sensor, fuel pump, Vehicle Anti-Theft(Vats) problem at the switch, PCM , it could be many things. It would be good to know what trouble codes it has, if it has spark and fuel when this occurs. I need some more info from him I do not like throwing parts at it. Could be as simple as a ground loose at the engine or transmission. I have seen it all, see if he can go by Autozone or someplace and get the trouble codes read. The $69 per hour is reasonable so long as the technician is competent. A good tech will find the problem in an hour or two. Most places just charge a flat hour for that.
