I'm looking for pictures of British Military personal eqiuped with the HK53 carbine. Its a long shot, but what better place to ask? I need these for a future project. Thanks any one who can help.
There is one of a Royal Marine under the Operation Enduring Freedom/UK gallery. You can't get a clear view of the rifle (Troop in question's back is to camera), but the four brong muzzle break of the 53 is pretty distinctive and can be Id-ed.
You could well be right there, I was just posting what I assumed to be the pic that Piccolo mentioned.
However..............if he was an RAF loadie, he would be wearing an aircrew helmet, surely? Plus he's wearing RM shoulder titles and a Bergen! So, he's probably a bootneck, so if it's an MP-5 why's he carrying it out in the boonies?

As for the the helmet & Patrol Pack (not bergan). Loadies often just wear headsets inside the aircraft & and a Mk 6 offers more ballistic protection on the ground. He's carring a patrol pack not a bergan - could have anything from a flask and sarnies to wet proofs and warm gear in it.
He could be an aircrewman from 847 Sqn (what was the Bde Air Sqn) or even 845/846 Sqn attached to the RAF.
Then again, I could be wrong, and it could be a HK53...
Yes, I see your point. When I was in the RAF - 1980s - there was much more distinction over what aircrew wore - support helo crews wore their own pattern of DPMs and always wore aircrew helmets. Yes, I see your point about him wanting more protection outside the aircraft, however in my own experience loadies always stay connected to the helo's intercom.
As for the guys weapon..........well, as we both agree, could be an MP5, could be an HK53........guess we're never going to know without a time machine or an eye witness.
I think I can say with certainty that the Basra pic is 100% confirmed HK53 - sensible guy - look after the boss with something reliable. Looks like he's got two mags clipped together. The other guy in the original picture from the Op. Telic website is also carrying an HK53.

Point taken, however..........the four-****g G-36 style flash supressor is only found on late-model Hk53s - the ones being carried in the Close Protection pic above are not of this type - I have this pic in high-res and have blown it right up, these guys have the more conventional supressors on their weapons.

THe thing I'm really keen to see are British SF troops using the G-36 which was field trialled successfully in Afg. Not sure which version, but my money would be on the G-36k, I suppose pix will filter out eventually, but you know how shy our SAS/SBS guys are, and quite rightly. Eventually i'd like to see all of our forces armed with the G-36 as they should have been rather than update the SA80, but that's another discussion.............

On the BBC news tonight there was a story about Jack Straw going to Iraq and going from place to place in a Blackhawk helicopter, and I spotted a HK53 w/ holosight being used by a CPU wearing civvies. I don't ask me if they were SAS, Delta or whatever unit u think.
Just wondering, is the CPU a part of the Royal Military Police?
Just to add, the photo Delta posted is the same in which I told of earlier. It can be clearly seen as a HK53, through the large cocking handle visible in the picture. The small knob like charging handle of the MP5 is not on the weapon in question, but rather the larger kind ala the G3/HK33 series.

Also with regards to holosights do you mean like this; (don't know which unit he belongs to but he appears to be British)
The HK53 is also used by units of the Royal Air Force Police, notably the P&SS Close Protection Teams and the Air Transport Security Teams.
I have carried the HK53 and can personally attest to its reliability and overall excellent performance.
