Thanks a lot my estimated colleagues!!!!

    The Beer's on me!!!!

As to the issue of East-Timor...

You sohuld be better informed of what REALLY happened, perhaps you think John Howard was a great-statesman in sending the troops to "help" stop the riots back in 1999, caused by the Aussie's long loved neighbour, the brutal dictatorship of Indonesia, that Australia supported for so long.

Maybe the fact that Mr. Howard, "great saviour" of East -Timor, moved an inch to do something (after the Australian Goverments had been applauding the genocide prepetrated by Indonesia since 1975 of more than 200.000 East-Timorese, recognizing an Illegal ocupation that was never recognized by the UN), was besides the obvious Oil and Gas interests that also persuaded the great Mr. Bush to "liberate" Iraq, was, as I was saying , the espontaneous mass movement of simpel people here in Portugal that demonstrated for weeks and weeks, demanding to the UN and the rulling powers of the world, that something was done to stop another genocide.

I took part of those demonstrations and I am very proud of it!!!

Unfortunately at that time Mr. Howard was for sure busy standing and watching and doing absolutely nothing, until perhaps he got a phone call from Mr. Bill Clinton and "decided " to intervene.

As about the actions of Australian Troops in East-Timor, I would not brag too much about it for what I've heard from several different sources and places.

Also a last word about the "gas contract", being Australia the country that destabilizes constantly East-Timor to put the right "puppet" on the rulling seat, I only have to say , Congratz again, you are definitely learning how to "liberate" countries.

Having said that, I bid you all a found farewell for the moment and again extend my thanks for this "award"!

    Signed,
A simple puppet and Clown, anti US, European A**hole

That was perhaps the best acceptance speech I have ever seen.

i'm not up to date in Australian interior policy, so i won't comment on Mr Howard, but Stonewall is right at the very sentence you chose to underline. Portugal was THE country that most supported an UN enforcement on the indonesian unlawfull invasion and genocide. Even if it was an ex-colony.

Those very same public demonstrations were a very strong and honest popular movement. Un-political connected. Please don't denigrate that effort.

@Stonewall71: Feel free to make a thread about the evil Australian's and their actions with regard to East Timor.

    That'd be entertaining.

I'm sure DW would be willing overlook it, citing provocation from Ngati. Maaaaaybe....

The word you're looking for is provocation.

But no, I'm simply suggesting he produce a thread where he can robustly debate his flawed and biased opinions with regards the Australian involvement in East Timor.

Interesting how accurate I was in my initial assessment though...
