Just about the best engine made today. It is powerful, compact in size and weight, fuel efficient, and quite cheap to produce. Many European engines seem to be complicated just for the sake of being complicated with an elevated price coming with that. I can get an LS series engine that makes just as much power as a Mercedes 6.0+ liter V8 but only at a fraction of the price and with better fuel efficiency.

Seriously: How are they doing compared to European cars with less V and less Liters...say an Audi A4 2,2 Liter or any other European car with 1,8-2,5l and under 200/230hp..I am asking because I somehow get the impression that the american cars with their big engines (they all seem to start at 3,5L and with V6 and more than 250hp while european cars start at 1,6 or 1,8L and around 100hp) are not as efficient as euro ones...am I totally wrong or how is it? And I am not talking about fuel efficiency, but about performance. If they are equal, why don't the US manufacturers start building smaller, yet sufficent in terms of performance for the car, engines which consume less fuel so the people who want to save on fuel don't need to buy asian or euro...I really don't know anything about US cars so I could be totally of the track here.

Engine technology in Europe and the United States is at the same level with the US leading in some areas and the Europeans in others.

Ill stick with my pushrod lt1 and you stick with your mod motor 4.6 a simple 500 dollar cam and heads package will bring me power only you will see with a blower all the while still getting 26+ mpg and im not even talking lsx motors. Theres a reason the pushrod motor is still around, cant really explain it better then what jetsetter has already said.

LOL, stand down chevy boy. I wasn't talking down on the LS series, though I am stating it is simple and not much thought in it as far as technology goes, which obviously there isn't.

And yes, when you have to disassemble the entire front of a car to take out a water pump, I would call that complicated. If what you think I'm doing is bitching, your daily interactions with other people must be horrible.

I has a problem. I have tires and rims that belonged to a 2004 Audi A4. I'm getting a new Volkswagen City Golf (a 2004 Golf MK4 with new bumpers etc...) and I wanted to know if I could put the tires/wheels from the Audi onto the golf. I'm guessing there's a slight chance that they would fit on the Golf because of the parts commonality between Audi's and VW's. Thanks in advance.

Edit: the rims are 17-18 inches in diameter

What happens when GM's 'last chance' deadline comes around? Will the U.S. invade GM?

What italian automaker will Chrysler engineers be learning how to make cars from? Ferrari? Because maybe Fiat is not the best solution to Chrysler's problem. Christ knows the Germans have already tried to help them with Daimlers buyout of Chrysler. Several years later Chrysler was dropped with several billions in lost revenue to Daimler.
