$500NZ (approx. CAN$450) was what I'd typically pay for a service on my Impreza...

Can't understand why they'd charge you so much since every other Austrian/NZlander (you're all the same anyways) has a Subaru.

Seems silly to charge people for service that comes naturally, especially when it's a lease.

60,000kms services are usually milestone services as in they may require spark plugs, drive train oil change, a coolant change or other major adjustment/work. Obviously it will depend on the make and model of the vehicle etc.

What does your owners manual recommend for a 60k service?

Ya it does require a lot of service. I didn't expect it to cost that much. Dad's old Audi had free service/maintenance.

Volvo gave my mom free service on her '13 S60, including all wear and tear items. Their road assistance monkeys managed to drop the car off the moving tow truck causing about 5k of damage, but that is a another story.

60k is generally a killer for any half decent vehicle. My DSG service alone will be $400 Things like sparkplugs, coils, fluids (except transmission and oil), battery should all be DIY jobs. I have friends who do their own oil changes but that seems more trouble than it's worth (unless you drive like crazy and need to change synthetic oil every 2-3k). For more advanced people suspension work is doable at home.
