So my friend finally got his vtec working, turns out his integra motor had the wrong solenoid for the VTAK on it, so he got that fixed and now his car's faster than mine. So earlier today
we raced those two turds here
Some highlights on his car
- Integra motor swap (what's it called the GSR or something)
- 5spd integra tranny
- Tein coilover suspension
- BFG ultra high performance summer tires (these are nice)
- 3" fart can
- Aluminum wheels, think either 15" or 16", 7" wide.
- not much of an interior
And mine:
- typical 4spd auto 3.8l v6 probably in the area of 160-160rwhp 195-200 rwtq
- heavy (want to say 3200lb but not sure)
- 2" progressive rate lowering springs, Front: 700-760 lb/in | Rear: 275-300 lb/in
- 17x9 / 17x10.5 steel wheels with 275/40/17 and 315/35/17 sumitomo HTR-Z tires (not nice)
Knew I was doomed with the automatic transmission and +1000lbs I had, but he really wanted to race me since his car used to be terribly slow, he started off infront of me so he wouldn't have to pass me, kept up with him until the turn then he sailed through it like nothing, my car rolled into the corners but the new springs helped a lot and none of the tires broke loose when turning, but I lost a lot of speed on the turns and the tranny doesn't help when trying to accelerate out of them. Whenever we came to a sharp turn and had to slow down I could gain up on him until the car got at about 3k rpm in 2nd gear, which for some ungodly reason doesn't shift into 3rd until 75mph, making some ridiculously slow acceleration. He was between 1-4 car lengths ahead of me the entire time. It was fun, no other cars or pedestrians on the road at that time of the day, probably used a gallon of gas and almost pushed my car beyond it's limits by taking turns at 50-60mph, lol.
But after that experience...I'm guessing...shift kit valve body, SCT flash tuner, high rear end gears and posi-trac would help the transmission out a lot, then a supercharger won't be bad either..lol
Oh yeah, definitely need to get new struts and shocks.
