In souk el gharib the army (muslims and christians) fought hand in hand against the syrians, lebanese forces, PSP, and amal. The maghaweer proved what they were made off when they pushed back the syrians and PSP, the 10th brigade fought till the end until the green light was given to the syrians to use their migs.Souk El Ghareb, Lebanese village in Mount Lebanon
..... ....the 10th brigade (exactly batallions 101 and 103) replaced 8th brigade in souq elgharb in july 89.. 102 moved to dahr el wa7ch and the 51st batallion remained in kfarshima....the attack on souq el gharb started on the 10th with heavy bombardment of the front. and on the 13th at dawn, there was intrusion along hill 888 and many members of the lebanese army were killed. the PSP, communists and palestinians went in and were soon followed by the syrian infantry under the cover of intense shelling.. the lebanese army had to withdraw initially from hill 888, citadel kfifan, qmatiyeh area to the 2nd line of defense...meanwhile, the army and LF artillery started carpet bombing of the invaded area.. the 8th brigade and the maghaweer were sent to souq el gharb and with intense and precise bombardment, they were able to recover the territories.. by early PM, GMA was giving his press conference asking the media to go to souq el gharb. During the attack, there was another intrusion at the ras el naba3 and aswe2 by members of amal. they were faced by the 9th brigade..this one was a total disaster to amal, although they didn't only intend a diversion...... ....

**GMA means General Michael Aoun
The 10th brigade led the attack, alongside the 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th brigades. They were also joined by the commando regiment, mokafaha and the military police. Every brigade was composed of 3 infantry regiments (e.g. 81, 82 and 83 for the 8th brigade), one tank regiment (e.g. 104 for the 10th brigade), one artillery (e.g. 55th for the 5th brigade) and one logistics (e.g. 96 for the 9th brigade). The army also had a regiment full of volunteers from other brigades who wanted to join the fight known as liwa al naser.
