Thanks for the source, and this answers my question.

Great posts as usual by all.

Have some news regarding the Hunters, I've been informed that the project has been abandoned due to the rising expenses. I just need to get confirmation from another source as well.

Reading some of the reports, it seems that some US policy makers close to Lebanon are pushing for the F-5 deal. This is just speculation though and nothing firm.

The Hawks only need a Lebanese agreement to go through and the numbers could be between 4 to 6 max. We should wait for the government to form and our beloved leaders to show some wisdom (which I doubt) so that many projects can get the go ahead. There are so many issues besides the military that need attention so let's hope for the best.

If we have some agreement, the future of our military will also be bright.

    Best regards.
No worry concerning the Hunters, anyway they would be more dangerous for the pilots. Seems from i understood that the Hawks are taken for granted, and it is waiting the government to form which apparently will be in the coming days.

Some photos are as big as 3050x2165; however, with ranging quality.

From the last visit back home, the overall impression is that for the Army the most important need is Training! and enough fundings to sustain readiness and operations.

Sure will lack a lot of new defensive gears, such as Air defense, Tanks, Heavy Armor and Mechanized artillery. But training and fundings are top priority.

That's what we discussed few pages before in this thread. We mentioned that only the elite units are getting enough training and personal equipment to a certain extend.

Some scans from the Lebanese Army mangazine
it wasn't me who scanned, so sorry for the small size, hopefully we get the magazine soon and get bigger scans

The airforce needs only 6 jets for this immediate period and the Hawks were a done deal for more than a month and a half. The deal is still on but I worry that if the US pushes forward the F-5 deal, they may drop the Hawks in the final minute. I hope not since these will be great trainers for our future pilots.

On the other hand, there's another finalized deal for 66 M60A1 tanks from Jordan pending the go ahead from Washington.

Let's hope they drop any, and accept both. I'm not sure what policy the army and the government will favor, but I personnaly don't see any burden having both.

What I hope for also is not to repeat the Gazelles' deal limitations. What i mean is that when we first received the Gazelles there was an American veto on arming them. We only received the machine guns and the rockets at the middle of a big struggle in Naher el Bared. So i hope this policy is dropped from now on.

We read earlier in this document something about approving some M60s deal, but they don't mention that they will be from Jordan. Maybe a another M60 deal this time from the US?

Another thing, Vatche, do you know anything about the last Gazelle crash? i mean we have seen the photos and it seems that the Gazelle went into pieces. What do you know about the crash? and about the helicopter itself?

    Very good news guys
I hope the M-60 will be the A3 version which is the latest (and still need some upgrade).
I agree with Zaher , why not to take both options on the fighters...
With reference to the Belgian Leopards, normaly with this kind of news (as above) the Belgian deal should go through now - very quickly

Indeed. The only strong plea that some Belgian politians who are refusing the deal were using was that Lebanon is not a stable country, and according to the Belgian laws no arms should be sold to countries where any political struggle or civil war is present. I believe after forming the new government, this plea should be dropped.

The other plea for refusing the deal was the price, some were saying that the price offered to LAF is very low. I haven't got any additional news on the progress in this point anyway.

Usually, the military wouldn't give away any info on such incidents unless full investigation comes to conclusions and even then, we may not know the full story. I haven't even been able to obtain it's registration either even though I happen to know the pilot involved very well and paid him a visit in the hospital.
I didn't ask him anything in regards to the accident, I was just curious about his well being.

Also, there will be no M109 self propelled guns (unfortunatley), instead the US will supply about 30 M198 towed guns.

The 5 AB212 will likely be refurbished by the US, even though the air force thinks it will be cheaper to buy new helicopters instead.

100 Milan anti-tank missiles from the UAE.

as for the M-60A1 from Jordan i hope they will be A3 from the USA
because everytime we get equipment from Jordan its in bad condition the 1983 deal we got 20 M-48A1 and were in very bad condition and the army almost did not use them
and bassically the A1 is identical to the M48A5
