On Wednesday, October 10th, 2007, a ceremony was organized in Afghan school commando to the advantage of 700 Afghan soldiers of the 203rd body newly awarded a diploma.

Anyone know what their mission will be? Just watched the video, wow. They look really good.
I'll hazard a guess and say it's to kill or capture members of Taliban, Al Qaida, or criminals and warlords operating against the Afghan government. But, there is a chance I could be wrong.Originally Posted by 10th albatross

Did the ANA purchases those Minimi's and MAG's or were they donated like those Diemaco C7/C8's?
These are the first pics I have seen of Afganistan forces not carrying ak47's. To someone like me who is looking completely outside of the envelope, they appear to be getting better equipment which can only be excellent news for the future.

On another note, I've noticed many of the soldiers use back up sights on their carbines. Since many of them don't have optics mounted, wouldn't it be wiser to use the carry handle type sights? The back up ones look so flimsy and fiddly (considering one needs to fold them up to use, and fold them down when not in use to prevent damage). What's the deal? Do m4s still come from the factory with detachable carry handles or have they been discarded altogether to save cost?
