no not really, it was taken in the summer of 2003 on board of ITS San Giusto at the beginning of operation Antica Babilonia (italian contribution to IF)

it's not vegetato desert, this camo pattern was used by goi during it's first years in irak. it seems to be derived from the san marco desert prototype of which only a few were produced...

Uuuh, very interesting. A own navy special forces desert camo. But yes, it looks like the San Marco pattern. Very rare, I would say.

a lot of people tell this story about a "revenge" for the 2003 attack, everyone with some variatons, but's a story there are no facts. when there was a revenge actions it wouldn't have started from a ship moored somewhere in the persian gulf, but from on of the italian camps in irak...
