    Default Chinese police req.

    Hello all,

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this but I was wondering if anybody here had any good links or ideas on how I would go about obtaining some Chinese police gear.
I have already looked at eBay.
    Uniform, badge, etc.
All for completely legal, collecting purposes.
I appreciate any and all help.
    Thank you.

Like PLA Type 07 series uniform, Genuine issue of Chinese police uniforms (including peakcaps, badges, insignias, patches..) and duty equipment are strictly probhited to sell in China. However, money always talks. The blackmarket price on them are not very expensive there. In my knowledge, the traffic or patrol police peakcap with cap badge is about US$13. The latest issue (2007) of nationwide unified police ID badge with leather holder costs I was told about US$20 on collector's market. Full set of standard uniform with proper insignia may a bit more than US$100.

(New unified police ID on left, and obsolete Beijing Police ID badge on right)

In order to get them, you have to know Chinese language and then go to some Chinese military forums or online auction platforms in China. You would find some local vendors to sell them unnoticeablely. Remember: Be aware that many fake Chinese police collectibles around.

I wonder if anything is illegal in China.
Anything is sold in China and not even expensive.
It's only illegal to get caught.

"For every measure of policy implementation from the top leadership, there is always a countermeasure by policy-takers at the bottom."---- it is a reality in modern China. That's why so many things are contradictory there .

For insignia, just go to the Hong Kong police website, look for contact info and email them.
Thatīs how I got some patches and pins.

Although Hong Kong Police Force is with Chinese society, I believe that he means China Public Security Police or China Armed Police Force in PRC . Also, he means to get genuine police stuffs (i.e. uniform, badge, police gear, etc) instead of souvenir patches & pins which are available to public at Hong Kong Police Gift Shop (http://www.yorkview.com/diyhp/3/xml/index2.html). Hong Kong Police would not just give someone any official uniform badges, specialized unit's patches, and uniform accessories unless he/she is from another law enforcement agency on official business .
