What do you find so bad with the SG1s?

The M Frames aren't reallyan option for me(atleast right now) since I don't think I'd be allowed to wear them on some courses. I know the Wiley X's should be good to go, an for Airborne aswell.

I think I'm gonna go with the XL-1s, unless someone saythat they are horrible or something?

    DNA

I have XL-1's. They have performed well. Had them in alpine environments, rock climbing, and a few sand storms.

I taped the retention strap to the frame where it locks in, since it has fallen out before.

If you have it pulled tight against your face, they will fog up. Pull them away so air can move between the glasses and your face, and they won't fog up, or at least they never do with me, regardless of temperature, period.

Have fun. I hope it works out for you.

I know several folks that have had poor results from LASIK.

    Stick to the glasses.

It would suck to roll the bad odds.

DnA, you are in the Canadian Army. How about the Revision Sawfly? it has the highest vallistic-protection rating, and has a Prescription carrier.

I've lost too many SG1 lenses in training. They get knocked out really easy if you accidently hit them with the optic of your weapon or whatever comes flying at your face. The ones I had fogged like a mother, though I never tried to put antifog stuff on them. I just bought different glasses instead.

Don't try and wear hybrids. Nothing but bad news, most of the time. I would say get yourself some nice M Frames, and then bring some real goggles to wear when you need them.

    Check this site: http://www.lasikdisaster.com/

Do your research before undertaking this procedure, so if you do decide to go ahead, you've maximised your chances of a successful operation. Not all outfits that perform this operation are equal in terms of competency and patient outcomes.

    Default USMC Glasses

What kind of glasses are alowwed in the Marines? I know through boot you get issued a pair of Drew Carry glasses but do you get anything less clumsy after-words. Are the Drew Carry's just a mental thing to make u feel retarded?

I think the retarded remark was probably right. you can wear other glasses but you had to pay for them yourself. The retarded ones where free and replacement was easy. Also it depended on your Gunny's sense of humor. Generally if it was not issued, you could not wear it. It did not necessary had to be issue to you, like herring bone Uts.. But Cordavan boots had to died black.

But this was back in the 60's/70's not sure of today.

After Bootcamp you can wear whatever you want, even contacts.
Just bear in mind when you go to the field you dont want to be messing about with contacts or your fragile ass (expensive) specs you got from lens-crafters or whatever.
Like Hollis said it will also depend on your Gunny when you get to the Fleet.
