    Thumbs up Aircraft Carriers Intensive PIX!!

    This thread will be about PIX of aircraft carriers. Post PIX of the ships be it a CVN,CVH, LPH, LHA/LHD of any navy! CVs of any era! Post your personal PIX of CVs..I have a few..Post PIX of the Flight Deck symphony! Hangar Deck too! I will post PIX here at least three days a week if there is intrest.

    I served on five USN CVs.. Kennedy, Midway, Han**ck, America & Nimitz.

    USS Valley Forge (CV-45)

    Crewmen use flight deck tractors with power brooms to sweep snow from the carrier's flight deck, during operations off Korea, circa early 1951.
    Photo is dated 8 May 1951, but Valley Forge ended her second Korean War deployment in late March of that year.
    Plane parked in the foreground is a F4U-4 "Corsair" fighter. Those on the forward flight deck are an AD "Skyraider" attack plane and a HO3S helicopter.

    USS Valley Forge (CV-45)

    USS Oriskany (CVA-34)

    One of a series of photographs "taken by a Navy F2H-2P 'Banshee' as it followed another 'Banshee' in for a carrier landing on the USS Oriskany (CVA-34), somewhere off the coast of San Francisco, California. The photo plane was equipped with a forward firing aerial mapping and reconnaissance camera installed in its nose. The camera was a type K-48 aerial camera with a 24-inch lens, a red A-25 filter, 1/200 second exposure, an exposure interval of two (2) seconds, and film size of 9x18 inches. The speed of the aircraft during approach is approximately 110 knots." (quoted from the original caption released with this image)
    Photograph was taken on 8 February 1955.

    Espcially during the Korean War. Truly the 'Forgotten War'. I am young, but that war will always be on my mind. Lest we forget...

    USS Han**k (CVA-19) off San Diego, California, 11 February 1975, shortly before beginning her final deployment to the western Pacific. There are twelve A-4 Skyhawk attack planes and one SH-3 helicopter on her flight deck.


    USS Antietam (CVS-36)

    Lockheed T2V-1 "SeaStar" makes its first carrier landing, during carrier suitability tests on board Antietam off the U.S. east coast, circa 7 October 1957.
    This photograph was originally released by the Lockheed Newsbureau on 9 October 1957, with the caption: "SeaStar Flexes Sea-Legs -- U.S. Navy's Lockheed T2V-1 SeaStar skims in for its first 'sea duty' landing aboard the U.S.S. Antietam. The new ship-or-shore duty trainer recently completed primary carrier suitability tests during operations held off the East Coast. Designed to combine top performance and safety in a two-place school-plane, the SeaStar is in quantity production at Lockheed's California Division.

    USS Boxer (LPH-4)

    At Mayport, Florida, in August 1965, just prior to departing for Vietnam with elements of the Army's First Cavalry Division on board. She carried 1200 personnel, 205 helicopters and 6 OV-1 airplanes to the combat zone.
    Aircraft on her flight deck include 6 OV-1 (dark colored-forward); 4 CH-54 (white-just forward of island); 56 CH-47 (dark colored-amidships and aft) and 36 UH-1 (white-amidships and forward). The remaining 109 helicopters are presumably stowed on Boxer's hangar deck.
