As USS Oriskany has been mentioned, I checked wiki on it, had couple pretty interesting photos. She had rather bad fire aboard in 27th of october 1966, 44 sailors lost their lives (R.I.P). She launched about 20000 sorties during Vietnam war.

A Vought F-8J Crusader of fighter squadron VF-194 Red Lightnings intercepts a Soviet Tupolev Tu-95 Bear-A/B reconnaissance aircraft near the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany (CVA-34) (steaming below) on 25 May 1974. VF-194 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing Nineteen (CVW-19).

Quite odd that USS Belleau Wood was used as target. She was rather new ship for that, as those normally put into reserve fleet storages. Just 30 years young.

Hi Popeye, RANEW was totally right in what he posted, I was just having an OFF day but no harm done as far as I know.
And I do appologise to RANEW for my rash statement about his ass.lol
I have finally got all the pictures together but I'm trying to get some larger pics of some of them. Most of the sources have only 800 x 600 pictures of the early ones but I will sort them today and post next week hopefully. Can some one correct me if I am wrong I have a total of 66 carriers up to present day.

    See last quote http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...&postcount=943

Basically, decision is postponed to 2011... while the catapults have been ordered and more than 200 Millions Euros spent on the project already.

    Default U.S. Carriers

    Hi all,
I have just finished compiling a list of all the U.S. Carriers I could get my grubby little hands with the idea of posting them in numerical order. Where possible I have used an original photo before any upgrades of refits so I'm sorry about the sizes of some. so here we go enjoy, if I've made any mistakes I apologize in advance.
