    No, that's an F-8. The longer fuselage, more pointed nose, and the engine nozzle all give it away.

    Prior to Launch an F/A-18 Hornet and checking weapons.





    A McDonnell Douglas F-4B Phantom II (BuNo 149430) of fighter squadron VF-111 Sundowners about to be launched from the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) during a deployment to Vietnam in 1971/72. The F-4B is armed with AIM-9D Sidewinder missiles and Mk 82 (500 lb/227 kg) bombs. The relatively small weapons load was typical for Coral Sea due to the limited catapult capacity.

    Highlights from the week's schedule of events:

    Today
    The flotilla sails into New York Harbor and docks at Pier 88 in Manhattan and Stapleton Pier on Staten Island from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
    Marines and sailors are honored at the Yankees game at 7 p.m.

    Tomorrow
    Visit the Kearsarge and the Leyte Gulf at Pier 88 in Manhattan from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Check out the F-18 flight simulator at the Stapleton Pier from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    The Blessing of the Fleet is at the Homeport Pier at 455 Front St. on Staten Island.
    The Marines hold a helicopter raid demonstration at Cunningham Park in Queens from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

    Friday
    Visit the Leyte Gulf at Pier 90 in Manhattan from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Give blood at Pier 88 from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
    Visit the Canadian maritime ships at Pier 92 in Manhattan from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Marines run from Nelson Rockefeller Park in Battery Park to the World Trade Center to honor 9/11 victims.
    Check out Marine Day in Central Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    The Navy Band performs at Times Square Recruiting Station at 5 p.m.

    Saturday
    The Navy Band performs on the "Today" show in Rockefeller Center.
    Visit the Leyte Gulf at Pier 90 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Check out Marine Day in Times Square from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    The Marines hold a helicopter raid demonstration at Eisenhower Park on Long Island from 10 a.m. to noon and again at Clove Lake Park on Staten Island from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

    Sunday
    There are Memorial Day parades in all five boroughs today.
    There's also a Tug of War contest at the South Street Seaport from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
    All ships are closed to the public on this day.

    Monday
    Memorial Day parades throughout the city, including one in Little Italy from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

    Tuesday
    Visit the Navy Seal display at Pier 88 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

    May 28
    The ships depart New York City.

    Also there is a E-3 from the USN onboard the CdG
