Norton Anti Virus, Internet Security, System Works 2003
I scan with Norton it says I have no errors, but I used a different program called PC Doctor it listed a whole lot of errors but cost $30.00 to fix, I suppose I could pay it and forget about it.

I know not to do that hehe

If you have window XP, try to do a System Restore and see if that helps.

    All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore

IF that does not work. You can always run setup.exe in the windows XP cd to refresh everything up/.

System restores are ok,but doesnt fix the problem 100%.

Restart your computer and go into your BIOS, make sure you have your load-up scan for boot disks during load up. From there insert your windows disk and do a format (NTFS for win2000 up FAT32 for older), make sure you unplug your internet too so when your windows loads back up your not a "sitting duck" for hackers, as your firewall-antivirus will be removed because they are normally located in C: drive. (and if they arent removed and on a partioned part of the drive well you going to need to remove those because "Vola" your reg keys a bye bye and definately not worth the hassle of saving)

K theres a couple things you might want to have on hand...windows key..that sounds stupid but alot of people forget to "borrow" one or find there's before a format. Always make sure you got it, also an antivirus and a firewall are definately needed.

I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH...ONCE YOU INSTALLED A FIREWALL & ANTIVIRUS GO DO YOUR WINDOWS UPDATES!!!

Make sure you do them all, you should at least have 45 and you are going to need to be around because only certain packs can be installed at once without conflicting with other packs...so its going to take a couple restarts. Should take at least 30-45 minutes right there.

Next thing I'd do is make a backup copy of your registry, and from there I'd make a system restore point and write it on a calander so you can remeber it.

Then you are offically done. Go into your device manager and disable all the micro-**** user accounts bull**** except yours and the admin and guest and your set.

My slightly unconstructive comment is run anything else but Windows try Linux, Open BSD or invest in a Apple Mac, even Be OS is worth a try.

p.s. that doesnt work only for older OS it works. I'm pretty sure you know that you cant format your drive when your currently running your operating system on it and are in the operating system

you can go Start->run then format D: and that would format your d: drive if you needed it done while still in windows.

For all those that are interested....

    try going start-->run
    then type in
ipconfig / flush dns (to clean out your dns)
netsh ip int reset.txt (will reset your TCP/IP and generally improve your internet browsing)
of course who cant forget msconfig...cant reccommend that to majority of people while working at msn, but i can tell you for an effective way to get **** from not loading up at start-up this is the way to do it other then going threw the registry and doing it. (dont mess with your boot.ini and blame it on me ) (dont mess your registry either...remember always to make a back up...otherwise you'll be following my instructions over again)
