Just windows defender, probably a virus then eh. It's odd, the file must of been on my computer for awhile, It only started after I clicked on a program (.exe) thats been there for awhile.

If you suspect a particular file of being malware, you could always try uploading it to either (or both) of the links below and the file will be scanned with the most recent definitions of most major AV software.

    2) http://virusscan.jotti.org

Not a 100% guarantee but it does help identify what it might be and then one can go from there.

Will keep this short, I'm using the on screen keyboard...
My keys on my laptop are playing up the v key makes caps come on and I get a C followed by an un ending stream of M's, other keys do other freaky things, I have tried another plug in keyboard, same problem.
I tried 3 different system restore points, an avg virus check, i have updated my keyboard drivers, uninstalled them, no dice.

    Question

I can't manage to turn the laptop keyboard off, but I have got the plug in keyboard doing it's own thing, where as before it was copying the faults of the laptop board.
So I imagine I'm looking at a physical key sticking problem of some sort?

My 2c, sorry it’s not too helpful..

Sounds like a hardware fault (potentially caused by any number of things; Volvo trucks, vibrations, sudden impact, spillage/damp or perhaps conductive material on the circuit board, or, if you’re lucky, simply some foreign object being lodged underneath the keys), and if pressurized air or the usual upside-down stroking doesn’t do anything then the best bet would be to either bypass or replace it.

Bypassing would be either through the device manager (operating system/product dependant whether it can be disabled from there), otherwise, you’d have to do it either from BIOS or finding which service controls the onboard keyboard and disabling that service from automatically starting (which should keep it from interfering with peripherals).

FYI Red iPods automatically upload songs not in your library that are in your iPod to it, so when you get your new iPod all you gotta do is put your songs from your library onto your new iPod. It's been like that for a few months now

Yep, one of your laptop keys must be stuck down.

It isn't a toshiba by any chance is it?

    Toshi Satelite...
On a side note it went into the Tosh shop earlier this year after I put half a bottle of diet coke through it...

I'd like to blame the Volvo (are you stalking me?) but it pretty much sits on a desk, although it's still pretty dusty. I'm trying to find a can of compressed air, but I'm not having a lot of joy up here in the North West.

For some reason I remembered what you wrote about Volvos in the hate thread and wondered to myself if any laptop would survive such a trip.

I have a work supplied Toshi laptop that went through a very similar issue a week or two back. I let Windows Update install some updates and all of a sudden, it acted as though the Windows key was being held down. And it didn't matter whether I plugged a keyboard in or not, etc.

It seems to have come right in the last few days (I'm writing on it now), so I have no f'n idea what caused or cured it. Several others around my office had the same problem too however.

It just downloaded a dozen updates, it did stop it acting like a touretts kid on a sugar high on start up, but the keyboard is still no good.
I'm not on it now, but I'll see how it's going after work.
