So while working on something today my monitors went nuts and some artifacts covered my screens, and the pc restarted

Ever since that, it has not been able to go past 'AMD Data Change..Update new data to DMI! Update Success

It won't load windows, but there was no disk error, or any kind of visual error. I've tried using different RAM sticks to no avail. Is there a clear-cut way to find out the problem? I could try using a different power supply and if that doesn't do anything I'd have to assume the motherboard is bad.

All the sudden on youtube I can't tap enter to search things most of the time, I have to click the search button. Not a huge deal, but I'm just curious as to why this happens since using enter works on all other websites.

Angry My CPU Just Burnt Out

So, my CPU just burnt out.
    Its about 5-6 years old...
So I am thinking its either the power supply (I am hoping it is) or the transistor with the motherboard?
Either way, I smell smoke from within the CPU...
If its a motherboard problem, there might be a compatibility problem and I might not be able to find the same model...

I am trying 2 get it repaired 2morrow... I hope to get it working in the maximum of 3 days...
    Anyone experienced this b4?

PS: Yes... I am typing on a laptop.

In the slang of Russian programmers and computer enthusiasts - "you killed your mother and burned the crystal"

5.5 years old means it's practically an antique. Use this as an excuse to upgrade.

Gut the case and throw some goodies in it. The hardware stuff is easy. If you can fix a lawnmower or hook up a stereo system then replacing major components of a PC will be a piece of cake!

Yep, time to replace/upgrade. You can easily spend way more time/effort trying to track down just what has died than a new computer is worth.

Vista is so 2 days ago...

    Windows7 is where it's at.

Most likely the power supply. But if you hear Beeps after turning it on.....it could be anything.

The same thing happened to me about two years ago. Listen to the people who told you to upgrade rather than trying to find an obsolete motherboard and cpu replacement.

Get a new PC or build your own from parts, now how hard is that?

If the computer is 5-6 years old.........I wouldn't waste your time in trying to get it repaired. It would be much cheaper to go buy a brand new one.....................You can get a decent desktop for about $600, with a flat panel monitor.
