It would make sense for the newer laptops to have an SSD as a boot drive, you wouldn't need so much space (As SSD's now are pretty expensive for just a little space) HDD's just as storage. That would get a little cramped though.

If i scrape enough money together for a new pc build, i'll probably use a small SSD for the OS boot.

I plan on buying one today, or at least ordering. It will be a nice final piece to my current rig/recent build.

Upon startup the screen reports that battery voltage is low.
Do I need a jumpstart or a new battery?
Any options before diving into the innards of the CPU?

If you do a search for “CMOS battery replacement” you’ll find instructions on how to do it and what kinds of things to think about (like backing up your CMOS settings, for example).

There are also a few videos on YouTube <-- Worth watching first.

Does any here use SpeedFan or any other program to monitor temps and control their fans? For my video card I just use ATI's temp monitor/fan controller and I use PC Probe II for my MB and CPU temps but I need something to control my CPU and case fans.

I heard rumor that Windows 7 wont work well with latest Video cards due to W7 bugs?

I wanted to buy it next week but i'm hearing Windows 7 is buggy as hell.

From a quick look around it seems to be more of a problem with older video cards, personally I haven't had any problems (other than dust which was solved by cleaning). I'm running Win 7 64bit Pro with a Radeon HD 5770.
I look through this forum if/when I have any questions or problems www.sevenforums.com

@ Supplanter, I've been meaning to look for something similar myself. I have an aftermarket CPU heatsink/fan that has its own controller though. I may get a decent controller for my case fans though.

I run over 6 systems currently with W7 and have zero problems. If anything it works buttloads better than with XP or Vista.

Have quite a few others I know of that run modern GPUs with W7 without any problems what so ever.

guys i need help with MS Excel (REALLY FAST)

i need to do a table that has for contents a couple of names, deseases, number of hospital visits, date of the last visit and if they are taken in.

thats the easy part, no worries but the rest is beyond my grasp, here it goes:

    1. Find the patient with least visits from the ones taken in
    2. Find the number of patients who visited the doctor after 20th last month
    3. Sort the table by desease and family name
    4. Make an excerpt for the patients who are taken in or have more than 12 visits.

**** me if i know how to do all that...

Hi guys, I got a copy of Photoshop on disk today and tried to install it on my home computer (it's faster) when I got this error message:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

The computer I'm trying to install it on runs Vista and the Drive did work a while ago. I've searched online and tried a number of things with no luck. Uninstalling the driver then reinstalling it didn't work and neither did disabling the drive and letting Vista find it again. The drive is a:

    TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653G ATA Device

if that helps. The drive was built into the computer (Dell Inspiron 545) and did work for a while at some point.

I would change the drive letter assignment to something easygoing like D: for your DVD drive and then reinstall your drivers.

Make sure it has kept whatever letter you assigned to it.

MS also has a "Mr. Jim’ll Fix IT" here that you might want to give a whirl

If nothing helps then you can always skip the drive altogether and use an image of the DVD and any drive emulator (like Daemon Tools) to install the program without the use of the DVD.
