To be honest If your more or less looking for a card for Arma 2, I'd personally go for a 560 ti, more importantly the Twin Frozr II for OCing purposes. But as you did mention future proofing the 580 is the obvious choice, though if I had a card like that I'd be worried how the rest of my system stacks up.
    i5-760 (2.8gHz)

ArmA isn't the only game I play. I play heaps, hence the urge to move to nVidia and something like the 580 GTX. ArmA is just the first game I've bumped into that doesn't run in a satisfactory manner with all the graphics turned up high.

"Twin Frozr II for OCing purposes" - what's Twin Frozr II? I don't really care too much for overclocking btw.

Twin Frozr II is MSI's cooling solution for non reference cards. I don't really care for OCing either....but it's easy work for extra performance so it's appealing for that reason.

Honestly the 580 won't hurt, for games like Metro 2033 it'll be fantastic. But Arma 2 is the opposite, it's very CPU bound because of the heavy scripting and dynamic AI.

Yeah I understand - I was making missions in OFP many years ago so I have a feel for how the engine works. Seems OA runs better than the original game, or am I just imagining things?

Yeah OA runs better, but then again there aren't a thousand trees everywhere.

Compare that with the result from using the ODF-converter found here and the latter would seem to handle tables better.

    Thanks mate, I'll try that.

Edit : I tried the downloadable software at oooninja and it works well. I might have to remember how to write a batch file to 'automate' the process a bit but it works quite well.

    Thanks again, silentpartner.

My internet connection has been running slowly for about 6 weeks and I was blaming my ISP. Today I was going through all the Microsoft settings and discovered the Windows firewall was on. Since I had it disabled the MS firewall via Zone Alarm when I installed ZA two years ago the only thing I can figure is that the last Microsoft update (6 weeks ago) turned the MS firewall back on and that created a conflict with Zone Alarm. Have now disabled MS firewall via Services. Internet connection speed now back to what it was.

Anyone else have MS make changes like this?

    Excel 2007 help
So I need to make a graph with 3 sets of data.

when I make a graph, it gives me a set scale as X axis, and I want it to be "Distance" value

So basically, how do I "stretch" the horizontal axis to be the distance, and the spacing accordingly?

Want to empty your hard disc with unnecessary data?

    1) Download CCCleaner and Defraggler

    2) After installing Defraggler, run "Analyze"

    3) On the filelist you'll see several filenames than need to be defragged. Sort them by size (large to small).

    4) Quite a lot of MegaBytes right? Choose the "urlclassifier3.sqlite". Right-click and choose "Open containing folder".

    5) Open "urlclassifier3" with Notepad, erase the data and then click "Save". Do the same with "XPC", and "XUL".

    6) Do the same with the REGISTRY_MACHINE_SOFTWARE files. Because there are a lot of files, just clean up the larger ones, again with Notepad. You may end up erasing some Gigabytes of useless data.

    7) The same also with OBJECTS.DATA, but remember you can't erase the one that is located on the System32 )it's the frst one you see on the list).

    8) Last but not least, run "Defrag" and afterwards, Action->Advnaced->Defrag freespace

    Hope I helped.

You want to show the word "Distance" on the X axis? Apologies if I ask a stupid question.

When I copy DVDs they are saved broken up into chapters. You have to click on the next chapter to get it to play when the one before is done, when you play it straight from the file. Is there any way to get them to play all the way thru like a regular movie as if I had burned it to a disk?

Also, I am copying the Band of Brothers and having probelms with the second disk. i keep getting an error message when I try to copy it. There is nothing hysically wrong with the disk as far as I can tell, and Im not having any problems with the others in the set. Is there anything I can do? I'm using DVDfab.

Got a problem myself. I'm using Jdownloader to download large files from filehosts. Naturally a lot of the stuff comes in compressed archives to keep size down, however after it unrars/zips them, Jdownloader kept the archives. I've now set that to autodelete after succesfull extraction, but is it safe to manually delete files with Jdownloader using the delete from list and disk option? i.e. does this keep the extracted file?

I installed Blackberry desktop manager (or attempted to) on Vista and after the reboot the profile would not load. Vista says the startup service for loading the profile will not load. Some on the web say that this is a known bug with Vista, that suddenly your profile gets named .bak and loads a corrupt profile instead. I attempted to do registry hacks (rename .bak back to original name) and modify a few values, but the fix had no effect. I ended up creating a new profile and transferring files over and everything is fine. To my utter shock and horror, gf was not running windows restore, so nothing to which I could go back.

My thought is that the Blackberry desktop install was the last event before the profile got hosed, the only out of the ordinary package with the installation was C++. So my question is if any techs out there have heard of this issue in Vista with Blackberry desktop software, or was this likely coincidence?
