LCD monitor. And the cable is constantly loose. It won't secure to the video card. And my dog keeps knocking it.

I am sorry I live in a disposible consumer society where we throw away cables at the first sign of trouble.
Ps. A dog knocking the cable? can you duck tape it to the power cable so it is more secure or along the desk or wall?

That requires a level of effort I'm not willing to invest.

Does your graphics card have those fastening screws?

Is there third party software I can deploy to overcome this issue?
A couple options, but first don't use Microsoft's own time service, it sucks and even they admit it (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939322).

You could deploy your own time server locally and have all the machines point to that. I have used Weinberg in the past for networks we wanted isolated from the rest of the world (http://www.meinberg.de/english/products/index.htm).

They have also made available a very nice ntp program of their own that can handle all kinds of parameters including delay offsets. (http://www.meinberg.de/english/sw/ntp.htm)

    Hope this helps.

I order the Intel Core i7-3930K from Amazon this morning. Amazon wanted $800 but they had a vendor selling them for $650 so I took that deal.

Newegg is sucking dick with their selling of LGA 2011 i7s. They make you buy a combo (CPU and mobo in one package) when all some people need is the CPU.

Does this work in a workgroup setting?

Maybe. Typically I have pointed all machines to the same IP for ntp. You could still use the domain server time model and just have the domain server point to the NTP appliance (Meinberg, Galleon, etc) and be the master for the domain time.

EDIT: Most of these devices I recommend use GPS time, but there are other options. Also, here is a fairly cheap device: http://css-timemachines.com/TM1000A-...source=froogle

Thanks, I'll look further into this.

If it doesn't work in a workgroup setting however then you owe me a couple drinks.

I will pay up next time I am in Cali (if needed)..., which I just ran screaming from after too many fun filled weeks spent entirely on Hwy 5 in LA.

LAWB, "net time /setsntp fqdn.timeserver.whatever" should do the trick. It'll overwrite any existing ntp server.
