    MY pc keeps on crashing.

I think it may be power supply related but can't be to sure. I used to get a lot of "your video card is not receiving sufficient power" previousely but I solved that issue by disconnecting the CD drive that I never used.

Min, firstly, is it an old pc you have upgraded over time?
Secondly, what is the wattage written on the back of the power supply?

I had major issues a few years back, and replaced everything and it turned out it was the power supply. I think i have a new spare one somewhere.

Yeah man an old one upgraded over time.

That being said I did attack it with the vacuum cleaner this morning. That much dust it wasn't funny. Cleaned that without pulling anything part.

Still had a few problem but once the dust that was left settled it's been ok now.

I'd say the power supply fan was overheating

Sounds like it, pays to vaccum any fan on the box, plus look for hidden filters in the front of the box as well.

    Min,

By "crashing" do you mean it's randomly powering down? I also had a computer once that I upgraded considerably over time (added tons of internal and external devices, etc.) and it ended up being a Power Supply Unit problem. I pulled out the old PSU and stuck in a higher wattage one--think 4 or 500w. Comp worked like a charm after that.

There are a number of (free) WEP key extractors out there on the interwebs for use where you have forgotten your WEP key. It will extract it from a computer that has already connected to a wireless access point. Do a googly search of WEP Key finder. Or PM me with your email address and I'll send it your way. Only a couple hundred kb in size.

x2, sounds exactly like that's what the problem is.

In case anyone hasn't heard, word going 'round the net is alot of folks are having problems with Windows XP SP3: http://www.informationweek.com/news/...leID=207600950

I wouldn't have thought it would be an issue whatsoever, but apparantly in addition to containing all the patches released since SP2, it has some "upgrades" that utilize alot of the technology behind Vista. Whether that's the cause of these problems, I don't know, but it appears that SP3 isn't just a conglomeration of patches.

I've put XP SP3 on a couple of machines so far, with no complaints ... yet (unlike Vista which has generated complaints from day 1 and we're up to day 400 or so I think).

Heh, I'd just finished installing SP3 when I read Hell's post. Kind of fretted for a bit and thought about what I should do but I've had no problems so far. I'm still on my first boot after install and restart, though. Gonna restart again in a minute and hopefully allay my fears about SP3.

OK, there have been reports that some computers with AMD chipsets have had problems after installing SP3, with the computer going into an infinite loop of rebooting over and over. People with this problem have had to go into safe mode and rolled back their system state to fix it.

Some have suggested that this problem may also be linked with:

a: an Nvidea video card driver update; or
b: a poorly installed OEM installation of Windows (not sure about this one).

I've only put it onto 4-5 machines now, and so far with no problems, but they have all been Intel machines. If I see/find anything interesting, I'll post it here.

I'm having an automatic scrolling drama, it's a bit selective, this page for example won't scroll automatically, but if I have a drop down menu I need to use the arrows to go through the choices, my bookmark menu is the same and in my thunderbird email I've had to make new mail go tot he top of the page as I can't make the page scroll down to the bottom.
    Any thoughts?

Do you have a middle mouse button? Sometimes I have problems if my middle mouse button is clicked (depending on my setup). Further, check to see if scroll lock or anything else is clicked.

Apart from that, im not much good at that sort of problem.
