Yeah I've seen that issue before with that make/model of drive and Vista. I think it was related to some CD burning software that the user had put on the computer. Try removing Nero or whatever you use to burn DVD's and see if that fixes it.

Best way to learn Photoshop is to learn by doing.
It's the way I learned it, sat down with Photoshop 8 quite a few years back and decided to learn. Now I do pretty extensive PS whork from time to time, and I've never read a guide.

but you'll get tons of good ones if you just google "photoshop tutorial basic"

Lynda.com (if you use the software drag-down menu you can select other versions, as PS4 has substantially more videos) and Total Training are the two companies in the forefront when it comes to video tutorials for Adobe software and between those two, Lynda sticks out in so much as they offer tutorials based on what you might be doing with the software (for example, information based on photography or web design instead of development – although I see TT has started to grasp this as well now).

There’s also VTC (Virtual Training Company) and Kelby Training.

Make sure it has kept whatever letter you assigned to it.

MS also has a "Mr. Jim’ll Fix IT" here that you might want to give a whirl

If nothing helps then you can always skip the drive altogether and use an image of the DVD and any drive emulator (like Daemon Tools) to install the program without the use of the DVD.

Managed to sort it after contacting Dell and being given a link to a page they had on the issue which autmatically sorted it all. Tried your methods though guys so thanks for your help.

The others have made good recommendations for tutorials. I tackled Photoshop by posing a specific problem then trying to research and solve it. Work one small step at a time and don’t let the huge menu frustrate you.

    Good luck and good ‘Shopping.

Ok I have last question before I buy it on Tuesday what the difference Windows 7 Home premium Upgrade and Home premium?
Upgrade Version is cheaper by $100 than Home Premium.

(Yes I checked their windows 7 website but it didn't say much at all)

Upgrade requires that you have Windows Vista or Windows XP installed before hand.

However, I'd still recommend doing a clean install.

I managed to do a clean install with a Home Premium upgrade disk from Windows 7 Enterprise, though this upgrade disk was from my laptop manufacturer, so it may have been different.

I just updated a desktop last week from Vista Home Prem to 7 Home Prem, went smoothly and sped the machine up, apart from that fact that I had to install the audio drivers myself.

It would probably have functioned even better if I had made a clean install, but I felt like leaving things as they were as it was not my machine.

Okay I have done this 4 million times before, and all of a sudden it's not working, I have a background, now I selected the rectangle tool, made the color black, I draw an outline, why does it not show up?
    Here is a screenshot. Photoshop.

How old are the batteries? They have a limited lifespan, probably around 3-4years.

I've had it for a bit over 2 years.
