Got a question myself, wonder if anyone has had similar experiences. I recently RMA'd a Scythe Musashi and exchanged it for Arctic Accelero Xtreme 5870, which i've tried to mount today. Everything went fine and dandy, until i got to the VRM heatsinks, which are supposed to stick to the VRM via adhesive pads. Only problem is that the pads DO NOT stick. Does anyone know a work around? I paid €45 for this thing(and €6,75 to get the Musashi back to the store) and i'm getting kinda pissed that Arctic can't even work out the right adhesive material..

I would try some strong liquid glue. Sometimes these pads are supposed to transfer the heat too. But if they won't stick, apply some small "dots" of glue elsewhere to fix it.

    Eeee, me PC, is deed?

Seriously nuts artefacts - everywhere! Even during boot. Don't think it's the PSU (as that is about 11 weeks old), the trusty old 8800GTX inside is about 30 months old though. Any clues mes amigos?

Oh, and I uninstalled the nVidia drivers, it was the only way I could get it to boot at all without crashing.

Anything clocked or maybe overheating? Got another GPU you can swap to, such as spare card or perhaps onboard?

My suspicion is that the GPU is on its way - but nothing is O/C, its a former gaming PC/office PC/now dog PC.

I might just pull the card out and see if there is any on board.

My suspicion as well but ya never know...hopefully you can get the onboard GPU fired up and see what happens.

I have a Steam issue. Steam will not download this game I bought at all. Even if I go in and change where I want to download it from, it just sits there doing nothing. I've deleted the clientregistry.blob file, but that didn't do jack. I did, at one time, use a program that forced Steam to download from my ISP's mirror so I wouldn't use up my bandwidth allowance (yay for Australian internet) but I removed it.

I'd uninstall it and try again, but I have d/led games backed up and I'm not sure what would happen to them.

    Any ideas?

It happens to me sometimes, but it resumes after a while(which varies, sometimes it can be hours). Does it give any indication of it being 'suspended'? I do not know what ports Steam uses for downloads, but are these opened/correctly forwarded? Open a ticket with Steam Support and see if they're familiar with the issue and can help you.
As for the back ups, you can move them to portable storage and reinstall them when/if you remove Steam and reinstall it. The files are encrypted and bound to your account. For games without Steam Cloud, you'll need to find and backup the saves as well, as the backup functionality will NOT do this for you, that I know of. I don't know if you've done it before, but it's a fairly lengthy proces, so only do it if you feel it's your only option. For all you know it could be an issue with the way your LAN and the ISP interface and not something within your Steam client.

To be honest the stated transfer rate seemed adequate and they had the best price on Amazon at the time. I don't have that much 1080p content so even at the top end the drive should be fast enough. Power consumption is not much of an issue for me.

I'll probably be running it as a RAID 1 array for redundancy so going to 2Tb might be an idea now I have thought about it some more. Probably buy the drives from somewhere else as part of a larger order but the amazon link demonstrated things quite well.

Seems one of the RAM sinks did come off/is loose, but is held in place by the rest of the sink. Kinda done with it. I'll check Afterburner to see if temps are acceptable. If not, i'll probably get some alternate pads with more adhesive strenght or use glue. Only problem is that the glue seems pretty darn permanent to me..

Since the last update to the Appletv, mine is as effective as a rock. Anyone got one and managed to get it to download movies without an error?

I have tried all of the forum fixes, with no luck. Apple wont refund the money spent on the rentals either.

I'd bet loads of cash on broken display (only if the "artefacts" are in the exact same spot everytime you boot the PC or the GPU overheating.
I'm assuming the latter of the two.

Well, it's an apple product, what do you expect
And can you roll back the firmware update in any way and lock the updater (I actually don't know, just trying to get you into the right direction)?

    OS = XP or Vista/7?

    C:\documents and settings\user name\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook is the XP one I think.
Or it could be in c:\documents and settings\user name\application data\microsoft\outlook

But it will be in one of those two

Found out that you can use %appdata% in the command bar to get to the appdata junction in Win7 at least(learned that it's not a 'folder' but a 'junction'..)
Now to figure out how I stop Live Calendar from harvesting my appointments etc..
