Apple's been investing in a lot of strategically important components. They invested heavily in solid state memories, and I think they bought some kind of display maker a while back.. It's corporate warfare, really. If Samsung hadn't bust into the cellphone market in such a major way(and with the more or less explicit aim of overtaking Apple) Apple would never have sued them.

The Iphone 5 at least will have a lot of Samsung tech, Samsung's R&D makes really overshadows Apples at this point. Not everything works out of course, but they come up with some neat stuff (They are working on next gen flash memory among others at the moment) It's easy to say Apple are being giant ****s, but really they are. Since Gingerbread and now really pushing with ICS and Jellybean coming up, Android has seen a huge chunk of the market go to them. It's taken a bit of time for Google to polish Android but it's really getting there, especially with Chrome integration (fantastic browser on the phone)

Why pay the same price for dated HW just to get the SW really, and only have the the choice of one phone with very limited options. Google's Nexus projects will likely
keep getting better, which provides a clean phone UI (lack of UI for the matter) and that is yet another choice. Apple also went after HTC and Moto lately, both not threats as individual companies but it's an OS war.

All this **** has shown how screwed up the patent system is.

    Spiceworks users.

Has anyone created an outside portal for users to use. Are there any benefits to this? I figure they would just log into Spceiworks web page in order to create a ticket.

    Am I missing something?

Hah, see if I ever help you again after your comments on the fishing thread...

(Also I do all my ticketing via email rather than web page...)

The email seems to work bloody great! Bossman wants web integration but I'm not so sure it's worth the trouble. I think I'm going to shit can the idea.

I did try it, using a TMG proxy to publish it. And it works fine. I guess if you have external clients you need to log jobs it's probably a good thing. Especially if it lets them track job progress. You can then also use the iPhone/Android app to monitor stuff remotely.

The flash memory, apps processor and the DRAM are (or at least were in the Iphone4) made By SAMSUNG. around 26% of the iphone is made with samsung hardware.

Anyone know of a program/utility to see what programs on your computer are utilizing the network connection? I'm trying to see if there are any connections on my line sucking up bandwidth.

    Try wireshark http://www.wireshark.org/

F.Y.I About that Java exploit I told you guys about earlier.

A new browser-based exploit for a Java vulnerability that allows attackers to execute arbitrary code on client systems has been spotted in the wild – and because of Oracle's Java patch schedule, it may be some time before a fix becomes widely available.

The vulnerability is present in the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.7 or later, Atif Mushtaq of security firm FireEye reported on Sunday, while PCs with Java versions 1.6 or earlier installed are not at risk.

In the form in which it was discovered, the exploit only works on Windows machines, because the payload that it downloads is a Windows executable. But the hackers behind the Metasploit penetration testing software say they have studied the exploit and found that it could just as easily be used to attack machines running Linux or Mac OS X, given the appropriate payload.

All browsers running on these systems were found to be vulnerable if they had the Java plugin installed, including Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, and Safari.

Patches are not going to be released for this on a timely basis so I highly recommend disabling Java for the time being.

Alright guys I have the ZTE Avail Android phone and I accidentally changed to the XT9 keyboard. Using XT9 is about as enjoyable as getting drop kicked in the scrotum so I was wondering if anyone knows how to change it back to the standard Android keyboard. I don't see any option to do so anywhere under the keyboard/input options tab .

It should be in language and keyboard in your settings, that is strange that it's missing. If you can't get it back, easy option would be to download another keyboard off of google play.

Check out one of the android forums : http://androidforums.com/zte-t-avail
