I hate Vista with passion. Thanks for the guide. My laptop runs like **** with Vista, maybe now I will be able to fix that.

There is only one real cure for Vista. "Format c: /s"

My work supplied Vista laptop won't run the Cisco VPN client anymore, it "failed to initialise the virtual adaptor". This is an acknowledged problem by Cisco without an acknowledged resolution. It's all to do with the amount of nagging Vista does when you make a network change. Can't wait for the "nag free" Windows 7...

Ok adding to the vista question.

I cant see the other computers on my network.

I have another Vista laptop which can see, so it seems to boil down to me having symantec antivirus on the work laptop.

Any easy fix, or should i just allow the home IP range for the symantec firewall?

    Cheers

If you wouldn't download the ghey ****, you wouldn't be having these issues.

Yep, you have to allow the home range of IP addresses through. Is it SAV corporate edition you're running on your work laptop?

    Yeah we do.

Just found a fix as i could not adjust the IPs. Its a Microsoft patch for the Link-Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD).

It needs to go on the XP machines on the network.

    hello,
i've been having trouble with my laptop and don't know what to do. popups were coming up so fast that my computer wouldn't work. i tried to update my mcafee security center, but when i go to get on their website, it says the server cannot be found. went to walmart and got the disc and loaded it, did a scan and deleted all potentially harmful items found. now it freezes up when windows starts up and i can't do anything... any ideas?

    thanks

Id run adaware, or do a web based scan.

If you deleted anything harmful, you may have deleted system files. Format c:

    Reinstall

Sorry cant be of more help than that, too tired.

yea im not a fan of Mcafee - i use AVG
do a few different spy ware scans like "search and destroy" "ad-aware" and "hijack this" and then restart in safemode and do a full scan with all of them again.

Make sure u have only One virus scan program - you can have multi spyware programs but only one virus scan

My laptop keeps playing some random radio channel( I think ) in the background all the time. I tried scans, removing a bunch of softwares I thought might be responsible but that annoying thing wont go away. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks.
