As said not right away, but it opens up the oportunity to in the future. They are actually trying out for a specific PSYOP BN, which exclusivly supports the various Ranger BN's.

Don't wanna be too **** but the today existing 75th Ranger Regiment was designated as such in 1986, and while the modern day Rangers surely descend from the Vietnam era 75th Infantry Regiment (Ranger) (founded in 1969) and the Rangers/LRRPs before that, there's already a thread that has tons of great Vietnam-era Ranger/Lurp-pics:

needing advice from Rangers on this forum:

I've wrote in the past about my intent for joining a Ranger battalion as an 11b (if the possibility still exists for me) after returning from a deployment.

so at this moment I'm at a crossroad. I'm graduating from grad school this December (returned from A-stan this past august) and right now I'm set for trying out for 20th SF Group with the goal of getting a long tab.

however, as an alternative, I'm thinking about going to a recruiter and asking for a Ranger-oriented contract (I'm national guard out of IL). My question is whether or not I'll be able to enter a battalion as an 11B?

    My stats:
-25 years old, E-5. I'll take a reduction in rank back to E-1 if I have to.
-Fluent in Urdu (Pakistani) and designated marksman qualified through the course at Camp Robinson, Arkansas (got the top gun and distinguished honor grad as well in my class).
-as stated, I'll have a Masters in History this coming December.
-286 PT score, at this moment I'm slotted to go pre-Ranger screening in Benning next February and am pending Ranger and Airborne school for next year (I doubt I'll have trouble getting those slots as well).

    Thoughts? Thanks for the help.
