North Arabian Gulf (July 6, 2004) – Cpl. Patricia Ruiz and Lance Cpl. Brandy Guerreo help load weapons and gear down the chain, to the rear of the Landing Craft Utility (LCU) as part of the Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) offloads in Kuwait. Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (Aug. 20, 2004) - A chief petty officer (CPO) selectee swings over a water pit at the Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Challenge. The FMF Challenge included a confidence and obstacle course, leadership reaction course, pugil stick training and a general purpose tent pitch for chief selectees at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. U.S. Navy Sailors who are selected for promotion from E-6 to E-7 voluntarily submit to six weeks of arduous physical training, practical team building and leadership exercises that will prepare them for their new duties and responsibilities as CPOs. U.S. Naval Academy (May 18, 2004) - A squad of Midshipmen work with a log as part of teamwork training during Sea Trials. The "capstone" event places fourth-class midshipmen in a physically and mentally demanding environment that instills in them the values of good leadership, teamwork, and perseverance. Sea Trials allows the fourth class to participate in a memorable and worthwhile event that teaches them much about their own abilities and limitations as well as the advantages of working as a team.
