What is the difference between the vehicle in picture I have quoted (AM-100) and the one you posted the 20th of august (captionned ALG-100) ?

AFAIK there is no difference; the full designation is AM-100 ALG. Based on the ABI, but optimized for IS duties.

it is the Romateknica but it was upgraded with New engine, and some other upgrades. The upgraded version is called AM-100

The then ALN (Armée de Libération Nationale) was an insurgent troop, not the modern and organized army of today Algeria.
The support bases of the ALN/FLN were in Tunisia. The fellagha used the "hit and escape" strategy, not a real frontline method.
I don't want to flame this thread (I know all the algerian members of this site won't agree) bot the french army was in 1961 close to the plain victory over the algerian independant fighters ... But the political price was too hight ; this logicaly led to Algeria independance in 1962. A drama for the french people obliged to quit this land but this is an other story.

Why would France Give up 2,400,000 Km2 "French Department" if it was so close to a a plain Victory, and i used the Term Department because Algeria was considered to be part of Proper France not just a colony. French left Algeria because they were beaten as they were in Dian Bian Fu in Vietnam, You can sanitize their defeat all you want but the fact and the matter is that Algerians payed dearly for their freedom, and France lost the war, That's is. Game over.

A war is an association of military actions and political decision, the brutality of the french army led to an efficient pacification of Algeria, but at a cost unaffordable for a democracy. The war became more and more unpopular among the french people. The evian meeting was a logical ending.

You are right, They lost the war In two fronts. First, in the military front. second, politicly it became clear that they were looking bad. You have to remember that ALN was not a regular Army, it was a well organized insurgency who did make the French army bleed to death ( over 60,000 death) and they got to the point where they could not sustain the losses.

For the Brutality, to the French , Algerians were just a bunch of animals, or how would i put it slaves.
