    Default Racism?

If this isn't relevent to the rant section, someone move it to OT&H.

My friend and I were in Kansas City, and my friend got hungry but wanted something really cheap.
So we stopped at a McDonalds which was still in the urban core. Inside, all the customers and workers were black. My friend is white and I'm half-Asian (I didn't order anything though and was waiting). My friend made his order and there were quite a few people behind him (about 5 or so). After he made his order, everybody behind him made their order and got their food before his order was announced to the back.
He didn't react or say anything, and when he got his food, he just said "thank you" and left. Once in the car, was when the ranting began.

Would you guys consider this racism, or are we just being pissy over something trivial and just need to HTFU?

I am from KC, what neighborhood?

    And yes, it was.

I once went to a BK in the bottoms, drive thru. They made me wait 5 minutes to get my food, then when I opened my whopper they had put half a head of lettuce on the damn thing. I threw it away, and grabbed some mc'd's in the northland.

Some areas in KC are really bad, as in can't drive down the street bad. Paseo after 10 pm, Quindaro anytime. It's pretty sad, but there is a ton of racism there, on both ends. Just like any urban area, there is a ton of disparity in income. It normally places in the top 20 regarding violent cities in the states. The racism is thick in some areas, in other areas it is just below the surface.

Currently living in the bay area, where I see every type of culture and personality and its awesome. The last time I was in KC, christmas, I saw 4 asians. 4. Normally I see 4 asians before I leave my block. The people in KC are good, solid people. They just are not exposed to different cultures, therefore they don't have knowledge about anything outside of their streets. Sucks.

I think it was at the intersection of Troost and East Meyer Boulevard.

You're from KCMO (well, the avatar gives it away)? Cool; I'm from Harrisonville.

I think I am the opposite, if ever I get prosperous enough to buy a second home I will probably find a place where there are not much foreigners, probably Wetsern Montana or North Western Wyoming, near Yellowstone.

A possiblity. At least we aren't going all "let's contact some right-wing media outlet about this". Just some ranting and we were done.

I myself have been the target of malicious racism before. This is the first time I have possibly seen something like this though.

Right now is my spring break. Once the week is over, I am back down in Rolla till the summer.
But what you are suggest would be interesting (though you may want to think over the beer part (look at my age and we aren't in Europe)).

    None taken.
I recognise myself as a complete prude.
Though I almost did go to a party this past St. Patty's Day (almost because at the last minute they put up a greek list) and my friends used the fact that I, Mr. Uptight, was going as a reason to make other people come as well.
