No. When you are in a potential hostile area, you wear them on your head but not over your ears. If you walk in to a firefight you just slide them over your ears and start shooting..

I truly hate winters and snow, and these photos are giving me bad flashbacks!
Only thing worse than -30 and ski-marches is weeks and weeks with pissing rain, strong winds, 3 degrees celsius and f..ked up Scandinavian autumns when it gets light at 10am and dark at 3-4pm; Hardship at it's best. I'll take freezing temperatures and snow any day over that.

    I'm such a spoiled sunshine-warrior (solskinnskriger)...

nice picture but damn i hate vita blixten.the work fine with the old army boot (M/59?) but they are worthless with the new M/90

The "Vita blixten" is far more better on the flat then the Randonée-ski. The Rangers in the north is equipped with "Jörnkängan" instead of winter M/90 boot.

LOL that's typical Dutch weather, except it's just a little warmer. If you're out of luck, it can rain everyday on the day for weeks here. They just let the rain mess up everything, and then throw the recruits in

I found som pictures from the specialised rangerplatoon called "Bergspluton" An elite unit that the conscripts can apply to and finally join after several tests.

Only one platoon that have the mountain ability to day, but is as well threated by the goverment that want to save money buy closing the entire batallion. The problem is that the Swedes need the ability to move troops in mountainenvironment thus they have troops in Afghanistan etc. And the border to the west is entirely mountians.

The Jeagerbatallion in the north of Sweden recently pulled off the "jeagerexercise 2" which gives the recruit the right to sew on the "Jägarbĺge"... A patch that symbolizes the Subarctic ability: Cold, Darkness, Wasteland, Water, Snow.

Nowdays the batallion is on its way to be demobilized due to the budget and the "non exsisting threat". That means in short that the only real military unit with subarctic ability is on its way to disappear.
