    Default Obama what ifs

Watching the latest news and all the rest of it.

Assuming Obama wins the Dems nomination.

As we all know the US has a lets just say complicated history with regards to race relations.

Would race play a key issue in the election? I assume especially in the south there may be "I aint voting for no n****r" and so forth. Is it going to be a big issue?

Being a black governor, mayor, congressmen and senator is one thing. But President?

I find it interesting that the first black American with a viable shot at the presidency has no connection at all to slavery and in fact, has close ties to Kenya through his father's side. I am a bit curious as to why those facts aren't getting much attention from the media. If they are non-issues, why not?

Good question. In my opinion, race shouldn't be an issue, but of course, it is. From my perspective, most of the educated white professionals I know do not admit that race is an issue in their decision whether or not to vote for Obama. My boss, who I respect and is black, is voting for Obama and I have the impression that his race is an issue for her. If I were black, I know race would be a bigger issue for me too.

The only people whom I've talked to who tell me they don't think the US is ready for an African-American as President are people from small towns (including my dad) and with little education or world perspective. My dad's family is from Texas and Oklahoma, and although they are proud of their Native American (Cherokee) blood, most are openly racist when it comes to African-Americans, to my frustration.

Take a good look at the results of the primaries: With the exception of Arkansas and Texas, Barack Obama has won every state in the Deep South by a significant margin. The South today is far from the South circa 1870's - 1960's.

Obama does not have the resume or the experience to become president. Can you name one piece of legislation as US Senator he has authored? Not counting the bills he jumped on at the last second I can't think of one. All his propositions to the US citizens will end up costing a lot of money and the end goal will be redistribution of wealth. No Thanks Mr. Obama!

Taking the results of the primaries as proof does not work. For one the primaries are voted on by regestered Dem's except Texas which is a open primary.

I wouldn't vote for him, and it isn't because he is black.

I don't think Bush had a huge knowledge of the Washington political circus before he become President, he was however surrounded by people who did. Obama has had a ringside seat for some time I think he will know his way around.

As an outsider I thought McCain looked like a dead cert 8 years ago but all sectors of the US media just sort of turned on him.

Bingo, this should be what everyone focuses on. He wants a redistribution of wealth which will punish the wealthy/business owners, which in turn will either make them take it out on their worker's salaries, the poor customers, or if it's bad enough they'll go out of business. The economy will shrink, and it will be even harder to pay for these chicken**** social services.

Deregulate to the point where we enforce only what is necessary. Allow companies to score huge profits and expand. They grow, the economy grows, they hire more people, everyone makes more money. I'll never understand why people think they deserve something for free. Your collective greed is sinking the ship.

As for Texas primary elections, they're considered closed, but they work almost exactly like open primaries. Go figure.

Obama, has positioned himself as a "race card" candidate. His father was Black and his Mother was white. If race was not a issue He would be just be another male candidate, or if *** was not a issue, just be another candidate.

Personally I see him as another slick Teflon coated politician. At first he was a unknown, that made him look good. He is becoming known and that is making Hillary look better, I did think that was possible.
