Good night folks

been crusing the net and gunsandammo.com readin. definetly headed to some dealers just to get my hands on some stuff. i really like what i saw on the Sig Arms website. personal preferences?? read some good articles on the Glock 38 though.
Regarding Walthers, my little brother has a P-22 and loves it. I've only fired it once, but it seemed like a really nice pistol. I don't know much about their larger-caliber pistols, other than the PPK/S and old WWII P-38, which I like.
I've only shot a P22(I think I've shot a SW99, can't remember), it was fun, it was silenced, but when I in the market for my first pistol, I considered Walther P99, Beretta Cougar, Browning High Power and Sig P226. I went with Sig, I had no expereience at that point with any of the firearms listed, but made my decision based on what I had read(intense reading,it's allot money to splosh) and a little bit of hero worship(the SAS).
That led to me getting my second Sig, the P239, I love em, can't get enough and if I had loads of money, I would purchase more Sigs.
My advice is to go to gun stores and get your hands on them, see if they feel right before you make your final decision and purchase.
Rumor has it Jack Bauer was last seen orbiting the moon. It is believe the only launching system with that much power would be a round house kick by Chuck Norris. The Speed of that Kick could have sent time realling forward enough that Chuck Norris now seems to be invisible causing specualtions as to his where abouts.Originally Posted by Futile Talisman

cool, thats what i was looking for. i was checking out Sig Arms website and i really like the 226 and 239 also, from looks and specs, gonna go hold some today. are they good for carrying? do you carry them? if not, what do you carry?Originally Posted by Geezah

There is FIT, we don't always have the same size hand. There is recoil and what cartridge to buy it in. There are large frames and small frames. There is the type of shooting you will be doing. There are calibers that are great for first time shooters. Cannons take time to learn, and can cause lots of bad habits if you are not a proficient shooter to begin with.
9 mm are probably the cheapest to shoot right now, and it is easy on the recoil.
Again lets say you bought a sig, and later you can buy another sig in different cartridge.
Just to add, both are in 9mm, I wanted a round that was fairly inexpensive, does the job when needed and I can keep plenty of it on hand and will be used between both handguns(and my AR carbine).Originally Posted by abncougar
I have a High Noon Holster IWB, Down Under with Straps for my P239, I've carried this alot, but I prefer my OWB Fobus belt holster that I waited 8mths for and only cost $21.99, over the HNH which was $70.
I also have a Fobus holster for my P226, which is an OWB belt holster, while Fobus holsters are cheap, they seem well made and well worth the money(IMHO).
I've also carried both handguns, but the P226 seems to print more on my shirts than the P239 in the Fobus holsters which is a given.
Now depending on what you intend to do with your handgun, CHL or general plinking, you may want to look at the P228/P229, they're more of a mid range between the P239 and P226, unless you have the money to spend?
I'm actually looking to get a Taurus at some point as a pocket pistol in .38spl, one that has the shaved hammer in DA/SA. I held the S&W five shot that is similar but hammerless, didn't like the trigger pull, too long if you ask me.
Geezah, I have some friends who have the Smith scandium frame wheel guns, they are so light, it is like they are not there. They are expensive and in the 357 Mag, very brutal recoil. I thought about one, If i got one I would load it with a 38 Sp, 148 g HBWC inverted and on the +p side.
I have a Sp101, it is good enough, I rarely carry. I have more problems with cougars where I live then with people.
You can't go wrong with a Sig, I have a few of them. My regular carry guns are P229 and P239 in .357 Sig caliber.

I didn't mind the 228 so much.
For a full time concealed carry, you may want to go revolver.
I tried a bunch of different weapons for this, Glock, AMT, 1911, etc.. none of them were any good after a full day of carry. All of them were uncomfortable and rubbed on your back, or were too heavy and would constanly pull on your pants unless you had you belt pulled way too tight.
I found the comprimise in the S&W 940. A 5 shot 9mm (Full moon clips) in a small frame. I'd carry this all day in an SOB holster and forget it was even there.
There are better revolvers for this now. S&W airweights in a lot of differnt calibers.
I own a EAA 6 shot .357 Mag now, I am very happy with it so far.
You got to love it. I usually use SIG P220 (my regular army service pistol), P226, and my 228 service pistol, just bought a 236 (verrrry nice little gun in .380 Auto, good for concealed carry) and a SIG Mosquito (.22lr) for fun shooting.Originally Posted by LtVacan
One of the best SIG guns is the old 210, accurate at 50m, undestroyable, little old and heavy, but a real collectors item...
Back to topic: I own a Walther P99, it's very small, it's very lightweight and it's very ergonomic. But after shooting a few hundred rounds I must say, that the gun is not fitted for me. I don't like the trigger system and the mag release is on the wrong place. Also the slide is a little unstable... and after all I like a little bit heavier guns because of the gun control.
There seems to be a move for a backup piece or a conceal carry for a civilian to wheel guns. I saw a airlight in 32 H&R mag, a oldie and good caliber.Originally Posted by Matchanu
I always liked wheel guns, simple to use.
EAA makes some nice stuff, I have several witnesses.
I have a HK P2000 in .40 and a SA 1911-A1 .45. I love them both and depending how I feel I carry one or the other.
