Default Yugoslav People's Army - Read the first post carefully!

The Balkan thread ban is over.

    For the time being.

Be warned however, it can and will return if our Balkan members lapse back into the usual spasms of stupidity.

Keep all historical discussion to the period 2001 and after. Do not engage in discussion of events prior to that.

That pertains particularly to historical photo threads prior to 2000.

Asking questions about uniforms, weapons, formations, etc, is acceptable.

Any trolling or flaming will be met with summary banning.

Nice pictures, just a question, lets say the cold war would have errupted and there would have been a Europe wide NATO vs Warsaw Pact war, what was Yugoslavia's game plan? Was their plan to defend their borders from either side or did they plan on allying themselves with one side?

Yugoslavia was neutral and likely wouldn't have chosen a side.

The Yugoslav Army definitely had an interesting history between '45 and '90.

Defend, that was ultimately the whole point of the YNA . It was an army that would be used to defend Yugoslavia not attack.

I believe they would have waited for the favourable moment and eventually attack Italy with the aim of capturing at least Trieste, Gorizia, Udine and surrounding areas.
