What does BFM stands for?
Same report about the M2000-9 in the last Air@Cosmos magazine .. a special patch was created by the Air Force to celebrate the event

What does BFM stands for?
I think something like Basic Fighter Manouvre
A question, if I may.
In a greek magazine(Ptisi-Flight) I read that there's an ongoing program in imporoving the Rafale's CAS capabilities and the try is to have a basic conficuration of external loads that will include 3 EFTs, a FLIR pod(Damocles), 4 MICAs, up to 6 AASM or Paveways or both, AND, 2 rocket pod of 7-12 guided rockets fitter on the external pylons, the ones that are not used now and where initially intended for AAMs.
I've seen drawings of the said pylons but never on an operational Rafale.
Any info on this? or pics?
the infos i got from another forum indicate that the guided rockets will be integrated on Mirage 2000 first and that there is no plan to integrate them immediately on the Rafale (but that can be done quite quickly if the need is expressed)2 rocket pod of 7-12 guided rockets fitter on the external pylons
as for the rest of the external load this is quite an heavy configuration
it was already seen flying but was never deployed in combat situation 6 AASM is a little bit overkill for destroying Taliban toyoats though)
edit : couldn't find quickly the picture of the whole config
here is a picture of 2x2 AASM + 4 MICA
and a picture of the 3 AASM rack

Here's a drawing of the said pylons/hard points. I mean the outer under wings(not wing tips)![]()

Thank you Xav!!
Perfectly clear!
The outer wing pylons are not cleared yet for operational use as the french air force thought that there were no need for them until the Astan experience and the need of laser guided rockets.
But during the latest paris air show (I was there) the outer wing pylons were fitted with Micas as on your charts on the static display. (On the rafale M1 not the B301 as shown above).
If the UAE deal materialize then there will be flight test soon to open the flight envelop with these new hard points. The wiring is already done there is only the need to validate the flight envelop with such a config.
^ I was there too
The Rafale M you are talking about:

It would be great to see the Rafale and the Morane do a heritage flight together for a photo op!
Wow, lots of stunning pics. Thanks, Xav, Domuku, and Olybrius for the treat. I especially love these color plates.
