Yeah sure, you don't like what he wrote so he must have been paid by a foreign plane manufacturer

His article is based on accounts of the special commeette created for the auditions of all the people involved in the processs. There is no bullshyte in it. Only damning accounts from high representatives.

    No childish debate, thank you
It is clear that Le Matin (like the Basler Zeitung and others) is not a strong supporter of the Gripen and it is also clear that the articles they publish are done to reverse the choice of the federal council. Although this is only one side of the story, this does not mean that all that is written is false. This article is interesting because the journalist (and this is not new...) gives real information and quotes numerous identified sources (this is not a Jon lake article ...). And today the most important information given is that the commission in charge to control the Tiger replacement will probably recommend to restart the process.

    What does this mean? :
A committee or subcommittee of the Swiss Parliament can't force the government to change its policy:

    http://www.romandie.com/news/n/Gripe...220122102.asp?
By cons, if the government ignores the recommendations, the parliament may reject the budgets and the voting about the swiss military budget will take place next summer, after completion of the work of the subcommittee

So Rafale would be now "in good position" ...

Typical Jon Lake article, he basically reuses older news from other newspapers and adds the last lines with, again, anonymous sources:

But despite these optimistic reports, BAE Systems is continuing to work with the UAE on its offer of the Eurofighter Typhoon and UK industry sources were quick to sound a cautionary note.

One said: “The French were in a bad position in the UAE but MMRCA turned things round for them and they’re now in a good position, but I’m confident that as things stand, the Typhoon now offers a better solution for the UAE’s needs, and I think there’s a way to go before any decision.”

The next Rafale Display Solo pilot
    Le Mammouth , May 14

While Captain Michael Brocard began his second season as Rafale display pilot, we already know the name of his successor, for the 2013 season: it will be Captain Benoit Planche who will officiate at the controls. Formed on Mirage 2000N, this pilot is currently at 1.91 gascogne, before migrating to the Rafale transformation squadron (ETR) of Saint-Dizier, which now houses the display pilots.
Only two pilots have "presented" the Rafale until now: Captain Cedric "Rut" Ruet was the first.

    VEJA/PANORAMA RADAR/Lauro Jardim

    Double interest
François Hollande comes to Brazil for the Rio +20 conference. But sustainable development is not only what brings him here. Hollande gave the signal that he will also address the billion dollar (and complicated) sale of the Rafale fighter jets to the FAB.

Indeed and very detailed reports too, but the problem remains that not the capability of Rafale is the issue for them, but that they can't afford it. Even if the competition might be re-issued, that won't change and the competition is more likely to be cancelled.

Not at all, read carefully. The Swiss Parliament subcomittee will propose to request a new offer from the 3 manufacturers with a fixed amount .. so it mean we could have this time, for example, 15 Rafale (or EF) competing against 22 Gripen E/F, for the price Switzerland wants to pay. (Remember Dassault had already sent a 2.8 billions francs "optimized" offer to the swiss Parliament).
The real question is who will win the showdown between the Federal Council (which supports Gripen) and the Parliament (which seems favoring the military-industrial lobby promoting the Rafale)

Quite a lot of things wrong in this "well informed article": Three 1700l external tanks(No, it's 1700+1700+1100), Prototype not having enlarge air inlets(It has, final version will have optimised dittos too(DSI?)).

To say that Gripen NG can only stay in the mission air policing 120 min compared to Rafale, EF 180min, hmmm..., look at the fuel fraction:

Int. Fuel/empty weight + int. fuel
    Typhoon: 9900(4500kg)/24,250 + 9900 = ~29%, (with three external tanks: (1100l+1100l+1100l)15741(7140kg) ~41%)
    Rafale: 10000(4700kg)/21,000 + 10000 = ~32%
    F-18 E/F: 14,400/30,560 + 14,400 = ~32%
    Gripen E/F: 7496(3400kg)/15,650 + 7496 = ~32%
    (with two ext. tanks(1700l+1700l), 13492(6120kg): ~46%, with three ext. tanks(1700l+1700l+1100l), 15432(~7000kg): ~50%)etc.
(with reservation that some numbers are from wiki.)
They probably try to confuse people, who don't know better, with Gripen C data.

Many comments(Building new models, flying with dummy missiles and not flying with the big EFT in that particular mission etc.) seems to have been exaggerated/twisted just so it can be used as a opinion piece.

And what does A400 have to do with this, a handy scarecrow thrown in?

Plus the paper still haven't managed to understand the credibility factor from the leaked reports.
    ----------------------------
SAAB tests system on a avioniks test bed in parallell with the the flying Demo, it's been up since 2008 I think.
~Next year I believe the series representitive version will fly, with wings I guess("Four aircraft will be made pre-series, two for flight tests, one for test and one for fatigue and static testing of components.).. This is the plan from some years back so it may not be totally accurat now.
    -----------------------------
Clearly there are some people that oppose the deal and try all means to tilt it.

I think we will se a rebuttal soon...

    /C.

    Calm down ...
There will be no rebuttal, DDPS already refused to comment.... obviously, as a Gripen fan, you don't like what it is written. It's probably only a part of the whole story but it seems based on documents coming from Parliament and DPPS that nobody calls into question in the swiss medias. And we know now who's this journalist and how he 's working ...no doubt , any contestation would result in the publication of these documents in the next "Le matin Dimanche" . Exactly like he did last time with the leaked report.

    Back to the news

    Edit:
Maurer expressed his irritation against the leaks and critical comments of Armasuisse official in the columns of Le Matin Dimanche. "It bothers me and I told him he should turn to me and not the media".
    http://www.rts.ch/info/suisse/399265...du-gripen.html
So this article is based on authentics documents and real contributions...
